Manhattan Memories

Comments

Adrienne Frantz (Amber Moore)
Busy Bee: “I used to live in New York, so I still have a lot of friends there, but it was such a quick trip this year that I had to neglect them. They were like, ‘Can I see you even for coffee?’ But there wasn’t any free time because my schedule was just so hectic. I felt really bad.”
On Not Being In The Hot Seat: “I already won an Emmy [Outstanding Young Actress in 2001], so it’s more relaxing for me this year. When you’re nominated, and until you win, it’s a constant panic attack. You just feel terrible the whole day of the Emmys. After I won, I was nominated again after that, and it was like no big deal. It was cool. I have one at home, so if I don’t ever win again, it’s okay. But, it’s wonderful to be acknowledged.”Sean Kanan (Deacon Sharpe)
A Night To Remember: “It was exciting because I got to present our clip for [Outstanding Drama Series], which B&B was nominated for. It would have been amazing to call my boss [Executive Producer/Head Writer Bradley Bell] up and congratulate him for winning. But YOUNG AND RESTLESS [which won] did some great work this year.”
Friendly Support: “It’s always nice to come to New York and be with everybody from my show and the other shows, as well. I was really pulling for Rick Hearst [ex-Whip; Ric, GENERAL HOSPITAL] to win Supporting Actor. He’s a dear friend of mine and a great actor, so I was really happy that he won.”
Why He Was Sporting Sunglasses: “If I wasn’t out with Brad until 4 in the morning, I wouldn’t be wearing the shades.”
Who Was That Girl?: “My sister lives in Manhattan, so she was my date for the Emmys. It was weird because she doesn’t put out [laughs].”Drew Tyler Bell (Thomas Forrester)
Act This Way: “I had a great time. It was really exciting because it was my first Emmy experience. It was very formal, so I had to behave and pretend to be mature, but I’m an actor. I really don’t know who I am personally, but I can act however I need to [laughs].”
Party On: “It was exciting to have all those parties to go to, like the Mayor’s Reception and the CBS party after the Emmys. It was fun interacting with the actors from the CBS soaps [AS THE WORLD TURNS and GUIDING LIGHT] that shoot [in N.Y.C.]. We’re like two different worlds, so it was nice to meet the people who are on our same network. I’m sure I’ll be seeing them more through the years.”
New York State Of Mind: “I was hoping to get mugged once or twice and get hit by the subway; you know, the whole ‘New Yawk’ thing. I wanted to see a show, but my schedule was pretty packed. I went to some great restaurants, and it’s fun to just walk around. In L.A., I walk to my car and that’s it.”Sydney Penny (Samantha Kelly)
When In Rome: “One of the things I enjoy most is simply walking around. I always gravitate toward Central Park. No matter where I am in New York, I’m always walking to that park. Luckily, I got to meet up with some friends, too.”
Waiting To Exhale: “I think it’s best when it’s all over. It’s the memories we take back with us, like when you go on vacation with friends, you get to talk about it afterward.”
Wear For Art Thou? “I like people to decide what I’m going to wear for me, and then hand it all to me. If there was no such thing as costume designers, I would never do it myself. I like to shop, but I buy things for my life. I usually [don’t] have anywhere to go on Friday nights, so I need big help in dressing up for it.”Jack Wagner (Nick Payne)
Eating Out: “This year I went to Coppola’s. Sal Coppola is a great buddy of mine, and every time I’m in town I go to his restaurant.”
Summing It Up: “What’s nice about the Emmys is that it’s one evening where the audience and the actors get to come together and recognize how hard this medium is and how hard everybody in it works. The actors get to show their appreciation to the fans. This is a very loyal audience, like country music fans, so I think for this one night, fans and actors get to recognize each another.”Maeve Quinlan (Megan Conley)
What To Do: “New York has such an amazing night life, so I always enjoy eating at the wonderful restaurants and drinking at some of the bars and clubs. I just generally enjoy the whole SEX AND THE CITY scene.”
Hanging Out With The Cast: “It was so much fun to enjoy the city together. We have such a great group of people on B&B, and we all get along so well outside of our regular stomping grounds. Everyone let loose, and we really tore the city up.”
Emmy Wear: “I love being all feminine and dressing up, I just don’t like the work that’s involved with it – at all. I don’t like to shop, so that wasn’t on my to-do list. When I need something, I usually go out looking for it the night before; that’s the type of shopper I am.”Lorenzo Lamas (Hector Ramirez)
Stand Up Guy: “It was fun presenting with Jack. I was very excited, but I was actually not nervous. It was more like a big party.”
Whatta Dahl: “I have family in New York. My mom [actress Arlene Dahl], sister and brother are all there, and we were able to get together for dinner one night. I didn’t have enough time to see a Broadway show, although I did go with my mother the night before the Emmys to see Troy. We’re both members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, so we went to a screening.”Jennifer Finnigan (ex-Bridget Forrester)
Maiden Manhattan: “It was so great to see everyone from B&B again. I love these people. When they found out that my new show CRAZY FOR YOU [a midseason replacement for NBC] got picked up, they called me like proud parents. They were so excited for me. It was fun to see them all in New York and spend time with them and party with them.” A Special Valentine: “I brought one of my co-stars from CROSSING JORDAN, Steve Valentine [Nigel], to a dinner one night, and he could not believe how much [the B&B cast] loves each other. He said, ‘Wow, you guys really get along!’ And we do! The daytime community is so close.”
Moving Experience: “I partied every night. I was so exhausted; I had way too much fun. I went to New York the Sunday before for the NBC Upfronts on Monday. I tried to take advantage of this time off before going back to CROSSING JORDAN. I just bought a house, so I’m going to be in the middle of boxes and moving for weeks, and then I have to start work. So, New York was my time to have fun, and I did!”
