Kyle Lowder On DAYS Comeback: ‘I Do Not Take It For Granted’

On Thursday, April 10, Kyle Lowder is reentering the Salem universe as Rex Brady. The actor (who is currently busy with another career as a news anchor on KTVN in Reno, Nevada) last appeared on Days of Our Lives in October 2023.
You Can Go Home Again
In a new interview with TV Insider, Lowder shared that last year, during one of his regular visits back to Southern California to visit friends, he reconnected with the show’s then-head writer, Ron Carlivati, which sparked Rex’s short-term comeback. Explained the actor, “[Carlivati] had an idea for Rex to make an appearance because of the storyline with his mother on the show,” Lauren Koslow’s Kate Roberts.
During what he described as “a week of business and pleasure,” Lowder got to work opposite both Koslow and Josh Taylor, who plays Rex’s father, Roman Brady. The actor, who got his start on DAYS in the role of Brady Black (which he played from 2000-05; Eric Martsolf assumed the part in 2008), marveled, “I’ve known Lauren and Josh since I was a literal teenager.”
Only 19 when he started working on the show, the now 44-year-old Lowder noted how flattered he was that DAYS continues to ask him back to reprise the role of Rex, declaring, “I do not take it for granted.” The actor added, “I’ve been told multiple times, in different ways, by multiple people running the show that I’m very much a part of the fabric of Days of our Lives.”
Lowder said that he is certainly willing to making yet more visits to Salem in the future, eternally grateful to the show for giving him his start in show business. “ There’s a loyalty that I have to that show, and [Executive Producer] Ken Corday particular,” he pointed out. “If the call comes in, I answer it and say, ‘How can I help?’ I love the show, I love working with the people on it, so I’m just very grateful for the experience to work there again.”
