Kin Shriner – Scott Free Page 2

Weekly: Have you picked out a girl you want to be paired with?
Shriner: Well, I’m working with Maura and Martha, and I like them both. They’re very good. ATWT has a lot of women you could have fun with, like they do on DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES. They have a variety of ages they can monkey with. Not like GENERAL HOSPITAL. There are no Lucys, Heathers, Felicias anymore. That age has disappeared.
Weekly: They’ve lost a lot of their fun characters.
Shriner: Right. That’s what GH was always known for, colorful characters. For some reason, they de-colored the show.
Weekly: They what?
Shriner: They de-colored it. I just made up that word.

Weekly: Oh. So what was the whole story with Billy Warlock going back to GH or not going back to GH? When I heard that, I said, “I bet Billy’s indecision is because Kin Shriner just moved to New York. He’s finally got his best pal here, and now they want him to go back to L.A.”
Shriner: Right. Well, he did go back, did his bit, and now he may go back and pay it off. I don’t know. I was just with him this morning at the gym.
Weekly: Partners in crime again.
Shriner: That’s right. I’m replaying everything. I’ll keep doing it until I get it right.

Weekly: And you broke up with your fiance, Tabitha?
Shriner: That was about a year ago.
Weekly: So you’re on the prowl in New York? Do I need to warn my girlfriends?
Shriner: Did you just use the word “prowl”?
Weekly: I did.
Shriner: (laughing) I don’t know if I would say prowling. I am open to a social life, but they’ve got me pretty busy. And I haven’t even scratched the surface of stuff to do in New York. I’m having so much fun here because you move about five miles an hour faster. You move like Lynn Herring (ex-Lucy, GH and PORT CHARLES), she was always five miles an hour faster than everybody.

Weekly: How is Lynn Herring?
Shriner: Lynn is great. I spoke to her this morning. I think she might be getting a little restless.
Weekly: We might see her back on daytime soon?
Shriner: Could be.

Weekly: You’re also the voice of Green Arrow on the JUSTICE LEAGUE animated series?
Shriner: Yes, on the Cartoon Network.
Weekly: Here’s a chance for you to be an action hero without having to work out.
Shriner: Well, yes, but you know I take all of my characters very seriously, so I do like to be able to back up my tough, wisecracking Green Arrow character with a little time in the gym.

Weekly: Have you watched THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL recently? Your buddy Jack Wagner (Nick; ex-Frisco, GH) had a love scene with a chimpanzee.
Shriner: I talk to Jack every day. He told me about the chimpanzee stuff. I said, “Is that the same monkey that Clint Eastwood worked with? The Every Which Way But Loose monkey?” It’s probably the same orangutan that Kathleen Noone (Mrs. Wallace) was working with over there at PASSSIONS.
Weekly: It is!
Shriner: It is? God, that monkey’s getting more work than some actors, huh?

Weekly: It’s so interesting that all of your friends are people you’ve known for years and years.
Shriner: Yeah, I was out with my old crony Robin Mattson (ex-Heather, GH) the other night.
Weekly: Is Susan Brown (ex-Gail, GH and PC) going to come decorate your apartment?
Shriner: I think I’ve got my apartment in order here, but I hope she comes to visit. New York is fun. Now that I look back, GENERAL HOSPITAL did me a favor. I never would have thought that I would have so much fun in Brooklyn.
