Keeping an Eye on GL’s Carrie Nye
GUIDING LIGHT fans can’t stop carrying on about Carrie Nye (Carrie) — and they’re not the only ones. Nye’s co-stars are also raving about her deliciously wicked performance.”I think she’s fascinating,” states Beth Ehlers (Harley). “She’s such a grande dame, like a Joan Collins (ex-Alexandra)…a broad. But Carrie’s this real…” — Ehlers goes into her best Nye impersonation — “‘Well her voice, to start.’ Does anyone really talk like that? But she really talks that way. I love people like that. They don’t exist anymore, you know? This is how we all talk: ‘Like, like, sort of, ummm, you know, you know.’ It’s bad. We have all these qualifiers that we put into all of our phrases.”Frank Dicopoulos (Frank) also adores Nye, and recently told her so. “This is funny,” relates Nye, in her Southern drawl. “I was coming up the stairs at the studio. All you know are your people who you work with. I’ve essentially only seen three adorables (Lindsey McKeon as Marah, Aubrey Dollar as Marina and Nancy St. Alban as Michelle). And a man (Dicopoulos) opened the door for me and said, ‘We haven’t met, but I love what you’re doing. I’m Marina’s father and I’m the chief of police.’ I said, ‘Oh, I’m so happy to meet you. Thank you so much. Perhaps you’ll shoot me down like the dog I am.'”
