Justin Bruening – Love Stories 101

Comments

Though ALL MY CHILDREN’s Justin Bruening (Jamie) misses working opposite real-life wife Alexa Havins (Babe), he understands why Babe and Jamie are not together.

“I was talking about this the other day with the directors,” he shares. “I said, ‘The reason I think our love story didn’t flourish is because love stories have to have conflicts.’ Babe agreed with everything. They are living in a garage, and she’s like, ‘I love you. This is how I was brought up. I’m used to this.'”

Maybe a split was best for the characters, because one thing Bruening can’t stand is Babe’s habit of lying. “I hate Babe,” he groans. “I tell [Alexa] all the time. I can’t even put up with her anymore. Anybody who lies that much, I’d be like, ‘You’re done. I’m over. Get lost.’ I can’t take it. And she does it to the extreme.”

But Bruening definitely loves the direction his character is taking. “He’s very sarcastic,” the actor grins. “It’s fun for me because that’s how I am in real life. For a while I hated my character just because he is such an idiot. I’d beat him up if I ever met him on the street. But it’s gotten fun because he is edgier. He’s always been a smart character. He just didn’t have common sense before.”
