Judith Chapman’s SOAPOGRAPHY

Comments

THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS’ Judith Chapman was more than a bit nervous about shooting her episode of SOAPOGRAPHY for SOAPnet. “I was dreading it a bit,” she admits. “But I was very pleased with how it went.”

That doesn’t mean it went without a hitch…or a few good laughs! Initially, SOAPnet planned to catch Chapman in her Palm Desert, Calif., home and at St. James, the restaurant she owns and operates with her gourmet life partner, chef James Offord. “But it didn’t work out,” Chapman recalls. “They finally came to my little house here [in Los Angeles], and it was pretty wonderful.”

Wonderful, perhaps, but it’s a good thing Chapman has a healthy sense of humor — because the “big picture” wasn’t quite right. “Every time I would refer to ‘James,’ my other half of many years now, it would cut to a picture of me and John Conboy, who was the original producer on Y&R and a good friend of many years,” Chapman laughs. “Then, a couple of minutes later, they cut to another picture of me and John, and I’m beaming. They were two different pictures from James’ birthday at the restaurant last year. Also, I labeled all these baby pictures, but every time they’ve got ‘me’ as a baby, it’s my little sister!”

And, with production wrapped for the season, the final product is not likely to be corrected — especially since Chapman declined to point out the problems to anyone. “I want them to leave it. It’s hysterical,” she chuckles. “I’m going to take it to my family reunion this summer. They’ll get a kick out of it. ‘My boyfriend John Conboy!’ I just howl.”

Chapman’s episode (also featuring GUIDING LIGHT’s Tom Pelphrey, Jonathan) premieres Aug. 26 on SOAPnet.
