John-Paul Lavoisier’s Pajama Game

Comments

ONE LIFE TO LIVE’s John-Paul Lavoisier (Rex) would choose comfort over chic any day of the week. No ties or suits for him. (Well, maybe for the Daytime Emmys.) So when he had to pack for last month’s Super Soap Weekend in Florida, he made sure he’d be comfortable and look fun.

In the sprit of having fun with the fans, Lavoisier had three T-shirts specifically made for the weekend. They were basic white with a hand-picked photo printed on the front depicting “my three love interests on the show: Adriana, Bo and me,” laughs Lavoisier.

The T-shirts were a hit with both fans and his fellow actors, once they focused on them. Melissa Gallo (Adriana), whose face was prominently displayed on Lavoisier’s chest during the motorcade, “was thrilled and still slightly caught off-guard. And I don’t think David Fumero (Cristian, Gallo’s real-life beau) had that much of a problem with it. He just thought it was nuts.”

The average guy would probably have worn jeans with these T-shirts, however, as Lavoisier explains, “I wanted to be really comfortable and look different.” In what might be considered an un-American statement, Lavoisier confesses, unabashedly, “I’m not comfortable in jeans.”

Lavoisier’s pants of preference? Why, pajama bottoms, of course.

“I took a lot of pajama pants to Super Soap because I knew I was going to want to change my clothes a lot from all the sweating I’d be doing.” (Author’s note: I’ve spoken to Lavoisier enough times to know one thing. The actor doesn’t care for hot weather, because he doesn’t like to sweat.)

“I took two different pairs of pajama pants and during one of my game shows I wore cargo shorts and a suit jacket and a T-shirt of myself. I wore cargo pants a couple times with a suit jacket. I went barefoot a couple of times onstage. I wore my sandals with pajama pants and the suit jacket one time.” (Author’s question: Exactly how many times did Lavoisier change? That’s a lot of outfits for two days in the public eye.)

“Wearing pajama pants basically lets you move like you’re naked,” sums up Lavoisier. (Author’s closing thought: And that’s why we love him.)
