I’ve Got You, Babe
After just two years as the feisty Babe Carey Chandler, ALL MY CHILDREN’S Alexa Havins has already had more than her share of classic Pine Valley moments.
“There have been so many!” enthuses Havins. “My all-time favorite Babe moments are when she’s spunky. I love when she’s pumped and she’s like a cheerleader, seeing the good in everything.”
But, as AMC fans know, Babe isn’t always cheery. In fact, for a while it seemed like she always had tears streaming down her face. “My favorite moment of Babe down — just emotionally beat up and dragged through the dirt — would probably be the moment at the river with Krystal,” remembers Havins, recalling the moment the young mother was told her baby had died.
“Then I loved when Little Adam almost drowned [in the pool]. There was this vulnerable side of her that hadn’t come out for a while. And I loved playing that because that was a range of emotions between loving your child, being scared to death, hating your husband for not being responsible, etc. There was not one set way of thought or feeling in those scenes.”
Speaking of her “little man,” Havins definitely has a soft spot in her heart for Jarred Sturman, the tot who plays Little Adam. “He’s a dream child,” she raves. “He’s such a good little boy. His mother is so fortunate. Most babies have twins, [but] he doesn’t even need one. We have a back-up child that never works because [Jarred]’s a doll.”
