Williams and Jenkins shared a soak in a natural sulfur pool with Toronto actress/producer Ngozi Paul. “Her heritage is Dominican, but she had never been,” reveals Williams. “It was an amazing trip for her, because the people of Dominican were thrilled that an expatriate was returning. She taught an acting workshop and from those workshops we’re going to identify actors that we want to use in the script.”
“We were taken out on catamarans to see sperm whales,” says Williams, here with Paul and Jenkins. “Dominica is a vast natural Eco-resource center. It is a dream for the tourist looking for an eco-vacation: It is not the place to go for five-star hotels with room service and Benetton shopping. It has a rain forest, year round sperm whales, seven active volcanoes and one of the best natural marinas, which they protect fiercely. Heavenly on every level.”
“It’s nice to go on those vacations where you’re parasailing and speed boating, but sometimes you just need to shut it down, look around you and realize how incredibly beautiful this planet is,” insists Williams, doing just that here at lava rocks of Emerald Pool. “The programming and films that we create will be about working within the landscape of this ecosystem. We don’t want to take away what exists: We want to show the world what exists.”
