All My Children

Host with the Most

Comments

Christina Bennett Lind (Bianca, AMC) is proudly set to serve as one of the hosts of the AMC/GH performance of Kander & Ebb’s musical revue, The World Goes ‘Round, to benefit the L.A. Gay And Lesbian Center, which runs on October 7, 9 and 10. (For tickets, click here.)“I got involved because I feel very strongly that the L.A. Gay and Lesbian Center should have lots of funding and that we should help them do that any way we can!” Lind beams. “And personally, obviously Bianca is a lesbian character, and I want to show as much support as I can to the whole community.”

Though she knows three of the performers, her AMC co-stars Bobbie Eakes (Krystal), Natalie Hall (Colby) and Jamie Luner (Liza), she has yet to make the acquaintance of the two GH participants, Bradford Anderson (Spinelli) and Brandon Barash (Johnny). “I’m so excited to meet them,” she enthuses. “I haven’t gotten to meet a lot of soap people outside of ALL MY CHILDREN, and I’m really looking forward to that changing! I’ve heard awesome things about these two guys. Bobbie and Natalie and I have been talking about the revue in the hair and makeup room and I know what fantastic singers they both are, so I’m looking forward to getting to see them do their thing. I’ve never heard either of them singing live, so this will be a real treat for me, as well. Jamie’s such a wonderful performer, as well; it’s going to be excellent.”

As for her own hosting duties, she says, “Obviously, I’ll be presenting each of the performers and whatnot. I will not be singing; I’ll keep that to karaoke night at the fan club event and keep that to the privacy of the bar [laughs]. But I’ll be introducing everyone and answering any questions that fans in attendance have about Bianca and about myself and pretty much just supporting everyone on stage … and sharing some spoilers about what’s coming up on ALL MY CHILDREN. It’ll be fun! I’ll be giving sort of a behind-the-scenes look at me and at what’s happening on the show and with Bianca in the near future. And all this without singing a note [laughs]!” (For the record, Bennett clarifies, “I can sing, and I’ve taken lessons in the past, but it’s just one of those things that, for whatever reason, I have a terrible phobia about doing in public.”)

The opportunity to interact with fans also has Lind counting the days until showtime. “I haven’t really gotten to do that yet, so I can’t wait to talk to the fans and answer questions and have personal interaction with them. This is all new to me, too, so I’m just excited to get to meet them as myself. Bianca and I have a lot of common, but it’ll be fun to talk to them as myself!”

All in all, Lind promises, it’ll be a night of fun surprises. “The fans should be aware that it’s a very small, intimate theater,” she hints, “and a lot of the cast is coming, so you never know who might be sitting next to. You may very well be sitting next to Susan Lucci [Erica] or Walt Willey [Jack]!”
