Greg Vaughan Joins Beyond The Gates!
Daytime Emmy-winning fan favorite Greg Vaughan is joining the cast of Beyond The Gates! A rep for the show tells Soap Opera Digest, “We can confirm that Greg Vaughan will be joining Beyond the Gates this season. More details to come at a later date.”
Happy Surprise
BTG’s celebrated Creator/Head Writer/Showrunner, Michele Val Jean, teased in an interview with TV Insider last month that the show had big news coming up on the casting front, saying, “There’s going to be another surprise down the road that soap fans will like.” Val Jean previously worked with Vaughan when she was part of the writing team of General Hospital, and he played Lucky Spencer (2003-09). The actor’s GH stint followed his debut soap role as Diego Guittierez on Young and Restless, which he played from 2002-03. After he said good-bye to Port Charles, Vaughan landed on Days of Our Lives, nabbing the pivotal role of Eric Brady in 2012.
In 2018, the actor won the Outstanding Supporting Actor prize at the Daytime Emmys, and while he still pops in from DAYS from time to time, he went off contract and Eric moved away with his beloved, Nicole, in 2024. The actor was back in the Salem mix this past spring as part of the emotional sendoff for John Black, played by Drake Hogestyn, who was his on-screen stepfather. Vaughan shared with TV Insider at the time, “It was a very hard day for everybody, obviously, and bringing Eric back was very sweet, but I wish it was under better circumstances.”
