Goldin Moment: Gl’s Ricky Paull Goldin Gets Personal
Soap Opera Digest: Your annual concert performance with soap pal Michael Park (Jack, ATWT) that was scheduled for June 2 was suddenly canceled. What happened?
Ricky Paull Goldin: We’re just too busy. It’s just bad timing. We’re going to do it again. There’s just too much going on. There were a lot of people saying they couldn’t get up to town at that time. Fans of Michael’s, and I guess I have a fan or two. We are going to reschedule it. Michael Park is very difficult to work with [laughs]! Digest: You’re up against Park for a golden statue this year. Has there been any friendly competition?
Goldin: He called me up [after the nomination announcement]. He wants it. He wants it bad. That’s when I stole a line from The Incredible Hulk: “Don’t make me angry. You wouldn’t like me when I’m angry.” That’s what I said to him.Digest: Are you planning any shenanigans for the big day?
Goldin: Pranks at the ceremony! That never goes over very well.
Digest: So you’ve tried before?
Goldin: Well, give me an idea and maybe I’ll do it!Digest: Last time we spoke, you mentioned you were bringing an incredibly hot date to the Emmys.
Goldin: Did I mention that? Yes, I have the hottest date in town … I’ve been wearing this necklace my girlfriend gave me. It’s got two very important things on there. One of them is a cross and the other is a key to a private journal that we keep together.Digest: Care to share who she is?
Goldin: Can’t.Digest: You’ve taken your turn hosting on the red carpet at the Emmys. Do you enjoy it?
Goldin: I’m forced to ask everybody who they’re wearing. Let me put it this way: a lot of the ladies do not wear the knickers for these events. You don’t want [panty] lines. I totally get it.Digest: Are you going to host again this year?
Goldin: I don’t even know yet. We haven’t talked yet. We never decide that until like two weeks before.Digest: So do you have any other interesting things you’d like to share?
Goldin: I’ll tell you what I did. All joking aside. I just went on a boat trip, delivered a boat from Boston to New York for two days. I’ll stare out at the ocean for 16 hours on a trip. That’s how I think about stuff and figure out what I want to do, how I want to approach stuff or how I feel about the Emmys, anything; my love life. That’s where I get my solace.
