It’s the day of Alan and Doris’s wedding.
At Cedars, Coop asked a distraught Ava if Alan-Michael was awake yet. Meanwhile, A-M had regained consciousness and appeared confused after he glanced at a newspaper announcing Alan’s marriage to Doris. As Coop started arguing with Ava again in an attempt to defend his actions, Frank interrupted and told Coop to cool it, noting that his behavior only drives Ava further into A-M’s arms; Ava agreed. Everyone went to A-M’s bedside and much to their surprise, he called the fall an accident, claiming he dropped his cell phone and didn’t blame Coop for anything. Then he told Ava it looked like he had a wedding to attend. Later, A-M confided to Ava that he couldn’t feel anything in his legs. He was paralyzed and couldn’t walk. Ava told him she was there for him.
At Towers, Alex was appalled at Alan’s decision to marry Doris, who she called a blackmailer. Then she suggested he just call the whole thing off and visit his son in the hospital before the entire family was ruined. Meanwhile, Remy applied for a security job for a “high-profile wedding” but he told the interviewer to call him Jim, not Remy.
An emboldened Beth approached Doris, who was preparing for her big day. Beth poked fun at Doris’s white, princess-like dress and asked where her tiara was. She claimed she was happy to share the misery of being a Spaulding, then snarked that Doris probably wanted cash as a wedding gift. Meanwhile Lizzie gazed at herself in the mirror, dressed in her ugly bridesmaid gown. She poured herself a drink as a very happy Ashlee entered, psyched about the gorgeous gowns they got to wear for the wedding. Ashlee told Liz she was excited for the “wedding of the year” because she was glad to be part of the Spaulding family. Liz snorted in disbelief, as being a Spaulding isn’t quite what it’s cracked up to be. When Liz suggested that Doris was just after Alan’s money, Ashlee disagreed and told Liz she was sorry she’s so bitter.
At the Lewis house, Cassie spoke out to ghost Tammy again, promising that she wouldn’t disappoint her. When Josh asked Cassie about what was in her pocket, she claimed it was a recipe but it was really a newspaper clipping about Alan and Doris’s pending nuptials. Josh suggested he and Cassie take a trip to Chicago to get their minds off of things, but Cassie declined claiming that she needed to plan for a trip like that. Concerned, Josh confronted her, knowing that she was being haunted by the thought of Alan’s wedding. Cassie left and when she didn’t return, Josh looked concerned.
The wedding party prepared for the occasion: Lizzie sat at the bar drinking, Alan looked dapper in his tuxedo and took a shot to calm his nerves and Doris and Ashlee reveled at themselves in their “beautiful” dresses. Then everyone gathered at Towers for the ceremony. Alan was shocked to see Lillian in attendance. She said she was only there for Lizzie, then called Alan a monster. Beth showed up with Rick on her arm. Liz drunkenly walked down the aisle, then Ashlee sang a song about love (very amusingly) as the guests watched and listened in horror. Meanwhile, Remy (dressed as a security guard) lurked in the background observing the scene. Suddenly a deranged Cassie interrupted screaming at Alan, calling him a murderer and saying “You know what you did!” Then she pulled out a picture of Tammy from her purse and shoved it in Alan’s face. She completely lost it before Josh rushed by her side and pulled her away. Once outside, she apologized to Josh and asked him how she knew he was there. Meanwhile, a mortified and humiliated Alan plead for Doris to call off the wedding but she refused. Alex, Beth, Liz and Lillian looked on in disgust. Alex pulled out her flask and took a sip. The reverend continued the service and Doris delivered her vows, calling Alan a good and decent man who loves his family. In turn, Alan said he’d love, honor and cherish Doris. They exchanged rings and it was official. Alex took another swig from her flask as Doris pulled Alan in for a big elaborate kiss.
Josh told Cassie they should go back home so she could get some sleep. She replied, “I wish…” Then ghost Tammy appeared yet again and told Cassie she couldn’t sleep yet because she hasn’t finished what she had to do. Meanwhile, back at Cedars, Ava returned to A-M’s room with a gift basket but he was gone.
After the wedding ceremony, Beth told Rick she was more humiliated than angry and stormed out. Lillian had a brief heart-to-heart with Liz, who wondered if she’d be hated for showing up to the ceremony. Then an enthusiastic Ashlee saw Alex on the balcony, called her “aunt Alex” and asked her for “Spaulding lessons.” Ashlee showed Alex that she had business cards made up proving her name as a Spaulding; Alex was shocked. Alan told Doris he was stepping out for a smoke, while Remy continued to look on. In the elevator, Alan smoked his cigar and mused to himself that even he was surprised that he’d “done it again.” Ashlee wondered where everyone was, including Lizzie, as she rallied the single women together for the bouquet toss; Beth suddenly reappeared. As Doris gave a trite speech/toast about her wedding, Alan stumbled back into the room and fell on top of Doris, who looked on in horror as her hands were covered in blood; he’d been shot.
