When Alan accused Beth of reverting to her alter personality, Lorelei, Beth did her best Lorelei drawl, then began beating Alan again. She explained that she didn’t need Lorelei anymore: She was Beth and she was in charge. Beth revealed that Alan served her with divorce papers on the night of his release. Gus thought Beth should release him since she and Alan were having a marital spat, and Beth went all Misery at the suggestion and jammed her stick in his open wound. Gus made the case to Alan that they should work together to escape. Beth surprised Gus with a birthday cake and champagne. Beth revealed that she was upset about her public humiliation at the Spaulding party and that Alan had secretly been working with Alan-Michael. Alan planned to poison Beth with the medication he had been hiding, but only two of his pills were remaining, and his wife had slipped the rest in his champagne. Despite being drugged, Alan untied Gus. Gus made a run for it, while Alan passed out.
Tammy assured Jonathan that he didn’t need to guard her, and he left for a meeting. Sandy walked in to Outskirts wanting to study with Tammy. When Tammy snapped at his antics, Sandy sternly warned her not to take that tone with him. Sandy announced that part of him wanted Jonathan to fall off a cliff again, and this time Sandy would make sure Jonathan stayed dead. Meanwhile, Jeffrey and Cassie were eating at Company when Jonathan offered to buy them dinner. Jonathan informed the couple that Sandy was growing dangerous and he needed their help to protect Tammy. When Cassie informed Jonathan that if he truly loved her daughter he would let her go, Jonathan replied that what he had done to Tammy wasn’t so different from what Jeffrey had done and Jeffrey agreed. Jonathan left and Tammy arrived and asked for her mother’s help with Sandy. After some bickering about Jonathan, Jeffrey agreed to get a restraining order against Sandy and Cassie promised that the three of them would get through this obstacle as a family. Sandy was hiding in the backseat of Jonathan’s car, and intimated that he had set a bomb in Jonathan’s car, just like in the movie Speed. If Jonathan stopped or slowed down, they would die. Jonathan called Sandy’s bluff and stopped the car without incident.
At Outskirts, Mallet tried to buy “the love drug” from the suspected drug dealers. When their marks tried to excuse themselves, Harley staged a fight with Mallet, and he kissed her. The drug dealers decided that only a real couple would fight like that, and handed Mallet the drugs. Mallet and Harley placed the other couple under arrest. When Harley was handed the arrest report, she noticed the date on the form and fled. She brought Gus a birthday cupcake at the accident site, and filled her husband in on the latest developments in her life. Mallet followed shortly thereafter with beer and pizza. Just as they were about to leave, Harley spotted someone approaching the site. “Gus!” she called out.
