The holidays were in full swing in Springfield. At the Spaulding Christmas party, Buzz hung out with Alexandra (Hey Alex! Good to see ya!) and Frank, while Harley and Gus prepared to bust Beth. Alan-Michael and Frank’s old animosity resurfaced when A-M overheard Buzz encouraging Frank to hit on a woman. “It must be hard looking for female companionship outside the Cooper family,” Frank told his former rival. Marina looked uncomfortable. Earlier, she had tried to make A-M let her out of being his back-up New Year’s date to no avail. Meanwhile, Beth cornered Gus in a … supply closet?… Small office? … Back room of Outskirts? It’s unclear, but in there, Beth told Gus he should offer Harley the ultimatum tonight: Him or Spaulding. Meanwhile, the rest of the party heard the conversation because Gus had a microphone in there. When they came out, Harley fired Beth, and offered her office to Dinah. Beth stormed out, but ran into Buzz first, who told her she needed a life of her own outside of Spaulding and Alan. He said she was gorgeous, so she smacked him. “You’re drunk, Buzz,” she said, “Happy holidays.” Lizzie accused her mom of being as bad as Alan. Alan-Michael saved Marina when a Spaulding employee criticized the Coopers in front of her. Gus and Harley were thrilled to longer have to fake an estrangement.
Beth wept in front of Alan at the sanitarium, upset that they had lost Spaulding. She was surprised that Alan was so calm. He encouraged her to go home and relax. Later, Alan-Michael walked in and declared: “Gus and Harley think they’ve gotten rid of the traitor in their midst, when all they’ve done is welcomed him into the fold.”
Sandy demanded that Josh help him find Tammy, but his former employer wouldn’t tell him anything. Over in Denial Land, Sandy truly believed he could win Tams back and work at Lewis Construction again. He took off to find Tams, while Jeffrey asked Josh if he didn’t think he was being too harsh. Reva overheard their conversation, and thanked Josh for being so protective of Cassie and her family. Cassie, meanwhile, was talking to Tammy about the cottage burning down. She heard footsteps outside, but no one was there when she checked. However, Tammy saw a note and took off. Sandy banged on the door, wondering where Tammy was. He got agitated, insisting to Cassie that the relationship wasn’t over. Cassie told him he made a mistake, and lied too many times. She kicked him out, but he muttered, “It’s not over,” as he walked away. Later, Cassie called Jeffrey, wondering where he was, as he was supposed to be moving in that day. He said he had a bunch of work to do, but would be over soon. Later, Jeff talked to Reva and shared his concerns about the relationship with Cassie. He also told her about the fire, and said that a guy who looked like Jonathan was seen leaving the scene.
Josh arrived at Jeffrey’s apartment door, and realized it was open. He wrestled with his conscience but ended up going in. He found a box marked: SHRED and inside was a picture of Richard and Jeffrey standing together. Meanwhile, Cassie headed down the hall.
At the boathouse, Jonathan confronted Tammy about telling Lizzie that she wasn’t dating anyone. Tammy admitted that she was scared about people’s reaction. She assured him that she wanted him, but needed time before they were outed as a couple. He ran outside, and jumped in the icy cold water to prove that she had to face her fears head on. (Um yeah, it was random and stupid). He was just as scared as she was about people’s reaction, but he knew he wanted to be with her. They made out, while Sandy watched them through the window.
