Dinah was steamed to see the photo of Harley in the news coverage of the policemen’s ball. She wondered to Mallet if it was wrong for her to feel insecure. He noticed that she wasn’t mentioned anywhere in Ross’ obit, so she had two reasons to feel slighted. Mallet assured Dinah that she was his number one headline. Meanwhile, Gus and Harley worked on their taxes. Harley called Gus on his pill-popping. Gus handed over his pills to Harley, claiming all he needed was aspirin to deal with his leg pain, but Harley still wanted him to see Rick for professional help. Mallet and Dinah arrived, and Harley apologized for not letting Dinah know about her video at the ball. Dinah questioned Harley about Gus’ pill habit, and Harley promised he was going cold turkey. Dinah followed Gus to the hospital and planted pain pills in the box of evidence that he was examining.
At Outskirts, Lizzie revealed to Jonathan her plan to get dirt on Ava, but he hinted she should concentrate on getting Coop out of town instead. Meanwhile, at Company, Frank caught Coop watching Ava and ordered his little brother to sweep her off her feet. Coop wanted Ava to blow off work to go out with him, but she worried that he might go back to Lizzie yet again. Ava guilted Coop into delivering an impassioned speech about why he likes her. His soliloquy was interrupted by a phone call that he had another shot at the Oxford fellowship. Lizzie arrived with a birthday gift for Coop, a fancy pen, and congratulated her ex on the Oxford news. Coop invited Ava to go to Oxford with him, and she agreed, much to Lizzie’s dismay.
Cassie was beating her rug to vent her frustration that Josh and Reva had gone through with their divorce. Josh grinned that they had signed the divorce papers, but then tore them up, to Cassie’s delight. Tammy arrived and asked Cassie to invite Jonathan to dinner that night. Cassie wanted Josh to be there, too, and he reluctantly agreed. Tammy phoned Jonathan, who also agreed to attend, despite his misgivings. Jonathan arrived with a 5-pack of beer in hand (He “pounded” one on the way over). Over dinner, Josh, Tammy, Jonathan and Cassie made small talk about everything from Jonathan’s bar to Josh’s misspent youth. Cassie announced that she was happy that they all had found family and love. Jonathan stormed out and Tammy followed. Jonathan explained that he had to leave because he was actually enjoying himself and it freaked him out. Jonathan and Tammy left for Outskirts, where she beamed that the evening had been a success. Lizzie called Jonathan and ordered him to make time for her. Either he would be in her bed that night, or she would tell Tammy everything. Meanwhile, Josh revealed to Cassie that he wanted to buy back Cross Creek as a gift for Reva. Cassie called Olivia, hoping to purchase the property and promised that no cost was too high.
