Maxie was determined to make a Great Escape from Mercy Hospital when she passed clean out from cardiac arrest. Cue the crash cart. Over at GH, Liz got a bit prickly at a doctor prescribing pain medication and Epiphany told her to chill out. The Mercy doctor blasted Lucky and Diego for leaving out Maxie’s medical history when they brought her in. Maxie viewed her overdose as a chance for her and Lucky to start over. “You would’ve died for nothing,” he told her. “I don’t love you and we’re never going to be together.” Maxie couldn’t understand why pills-for-sex didn’t equal true love. Lucky copped to his faults and asked Maxie to “get on with her life.” She wasn’t pleased. “Some day, you’re going to be sorry,” the bunny boiling ex-Belle promised, calling him “a liar and a user.” Her former stalker, Diego, came in to boot Lucky out and comfort his ex-victim. In the hall, Lucky fingered his drugs and hit up Maxie’s doctor for a refill. Maxie thanked her ex-stalker for taking nudie pictures for being so nice to her and, once alone, she called Mac and pleaded for help.
At Casa Corinthos, Jason caught Max with car parts. “I’m following the boss’ orders!” Max defended, admitting the whole scheme and his feelings for Carly, to boot. At the hotel, Sonny claimed that he was concerned about the kids (but we all knew better). “You think I enjoy chasing you all the way across town?” he scoffed. “Yes,” Carly spit back. “You have too much time on your hands. You don’t want me…and you don’t want anyone else to have me.” Sonny said Jax would break her heart. Jax walked in, disagreeing, “That would be your specialty.” Carly quickly shooed her “juvenile” ex out. At Sonny’s, Jason couldn’t help but laugh as Max begged him to keep Sonny and Carly apart and spare him the torment of seeing her every day. Jax and Carly tried to move past the Sonny interruption. When Sonny came home, he found Max drinking scotch and was jealous that he couldn’t hit the bottle himself. “Don’t let Sonny undermine your progress,” Jax warned Carly. Don’t worry, Carly had one of her famous Plans. She told him it only involved “one phone call.” Sonny tried the “I’m worried about the kids” excuse with Jason, assuring him that he wouldn’t fall for Carly again (Jason, and the rest of us, have heard this before). Thankfully, mid-argument, Liz called Jason to come be with Sam. Carly’s one phone call? Lainey. “Now she’s trying to turn this thing on me!” Sonny cried to his therapist. Then, a legit disaster in the form of Carly’s house flooding gave Sonny the upper hand again. Sonny sent poor Max to interrupt Jax and Carly’s giggly makeout session. Carly jerked open the door and let poor Max have it. She refused to believe her house was flooding (It was. We saw it.) Lainey talked to the kids about Jax. Michael, who’d been a Jax fan last week, was suddenly rooting for a Sonny and Carly reunion. Uh-oh. And Sonny knew exactly where Carly could stay since her own place was flooded: Casa Corinthos. Double uh-oh!
On the pier, Jason and Sam decided to start over. Of course, that’s when Liz called with news: Alexis is getting worse. At GH, Robin and Patrick updated both Sam and Nikolas on Alexis. Her lung had collapsed and her prognosis was grim. Ric was out of reach but the surgery was unavoidable. The two neurologists (where’s Dr. Tuvok from STAR TREK: VOYAGER?) needed Sam to sign the release. She refused so Nikolas did. And then Nik and Sam discussed living situations for Kristina and Molly. He wasn’t about to take the girls away from their fathers after what he went through with Spencer, but “What if the girls were to stay with you?” Visitation with Sonny and Ric could be worked out. But if she did this, warned Nikolas, “you have to end your relationship with Jason.” Later, bed-ridden Alfred thoughtfully sent Emily to hang out with Nikolas in the lounge while Liz sent Jason looking for Sam, who was on the roof angsting alone. Nikolas and Emily bonded (with big “reunion” anvils) as Lucky came by and got into a tangle with Liz over his shiny new pills. “What’s the real reason you want to end our marriage?” he demanded…as the camera panned to Jason on the roof. Jason and Sam hashed things out, both getting teary over the prospect of breaking up (again).
