Jason, Sam and Spinelli survived the car blast only to be pinned down by hit
men in a hail of bullets. However, the trio slipped away during the firefight. At GH, Alcazar explained to Diego the importance of having an alibi and steering clear of
the assassination site. Meanwhile, Spinelli confessed that he led the gunmen to them. Alexis arrived at Kelly’s and told Kristina she could play with a puppy outside. The dog bolted, and the child followed. At the wedding reception, Lucky helped up Elizabeth as Carly warned Ric that if he set up
Jason she will kill him. Ric got a call describing the explosion and placing
Jason in the area, and left. Meanwhile, Jason and Sam continued to run and fight for their lives. Alexis realized Kristina was missing.

Luke and Laura shared champagne, but she wanted to drink to “the truth —
about me.” She recounted Helena’s threat and asked if her “miraculous”
recovery would last. “No,” Luke whispered, describing how she will slip back into the catatonic state. “No! That can’t be true!” she cried. “I can fight it.” But Luke told there was no coming back again. “It was always a
temporary fix. I’m so sorry.” She began to cry, and admitted she was already slipping away. “I feel something trying to drag me under,” she wailed,
wondering how long she has left. “Not long,” he replied, before confessing he always knew this would happen, but he did it for the kids and for her. “But the truth is, I’m a selfish bastard and I did it for me,” he said. “I’m
lost without you.” When he asked what she would have done, she took his face in her hands and assured him, “I would do exactly the same thing.” But she would have told him how it would end. They kissed. Laura lamented how fast the years fly by. “This is happening to both of us,” she said. She insisted Luke carry “no regrets,” but admitted she is “scared to death. I’m angry, and I
feel damn sorry for myself.” There was no time to waste, however — she had to
tell the kids.

Jax wanted to wait with Carly and Sonny for word of Jason. Carly told Sonny to kill Ric. On the docks, Diego trailed the fugitives and opened fire. Sam shot back, killing Diego! Sadly, Kristina had chased the puppy into the warehouse and saw it all. Sam comforted her, sending Jason after the fleeing Spinelli. Ric and a cadre of cops arrived, and Sam surrendered — although
she didn’t hand over her weapon to Cruz until well after Ric and the other cops had left — and she didn’t even pause over Diego’s corpse as they chased Jason.
A cop got the drop on Jason, who tossed his gun in the water. Ric arrived and shouted “He’s got another gun, shoot!” The cops opened fire and Jason
leaped into the water. Robert ordered divers to search for Jason’s body. Alexis arrived and took Kristina so Sam could be arrested. Alcazar
(apparently sensing a disturbance in the Force) arrived, looking for Diego
in the one place he had warned the boy not to go. Sonny was telling Carly he won’t kill Ric when he got a call telling him Jason had been shot and was missing. Meanwhile, Liz prayed for Jason’s safety in a heretofore unseen deserted church on the docks.

Carly was sure Jason wasn’t dead, saying she would have felt him die (apparently she too is plugged into the Force). Sonny appeared in Ric’s office and demanded that Cruz leave — and forget he saw Sonny, who pulled
out a revolver (nice security at the DA’s office, eh?). Accusing Ric of killing his “real” brother, Sonny pointed the gun at Ric’s chest. Ric
scoffed. Meanwhile, Alcazar cried and slobbered over Diego’s corpse. He swore to avenge his son.

Laura’s kids assembled at the house, and Lulu asked why Laura summoned them. “I
didn’t — did I?” she asked. Luke tried to usher the kids out, but Laura stopped them. She mentioned her memory lapses. A frantic Lulu fled; Luke went after her. Nik twigged to the truth: “Your recovery isn’t permanent, is
it?”

Liz was lighting candles for Jason when she heard a noise. Turning, she found a soaking-wet Jason lying on the floor! (Perhaps a wave washed him into the church — silently.) Liz begged him to live, because her baby isn’t
Lucky’s — “it’s yours!”
