At the Prison of Painful Confessions, Emily admitted to a bewildered Nikolas that Connor Bishop had raped her — accompanied by the excruciating flashbacks as a visual aid. A weeping Nik promised her that they would get through it, he loved her, and she reminded him that he happened to look like the evil guy that had brutalized her. Unable to face his earnest devotion, Emily bolted. Then, the thrifty prince pulled a MacGyver and undid his handcuffs with a paper clip, determined to make his own escape…that is, if the prison guard didn’t pull an Officer Murphy and shoot him first!

Over on the 5th floor of the hospital (watch the elevator doors every day! It’s fun!), Bobbie had her air time for the month, assisting in the next part of Luke’s Crazy Plan. The scruffier Spencer sibling played mostly dead (and slightly alive) in a hospital bed waiting for Helena to come to him. Lucky and Elizabeth staged a theatrical production at Wyndemere that would’ve made a 6th grade class look like Shakespearean actors in order to lure the dastardly Hells out of the tunnels and the frustrated Skye and Tracy were reluctant participants in the Plan as well. Luke told his hapless minions to look out for someone dressed as a nun or “an effete man with a Magnum” and they scattered to their positions around the nurses’ station. Freshly fled from her clueless consort, Emily arrived…and a suspicious nun climbed off the elevator! Too bad that wasn’t actually Helena. As Luke mused to Tracy about who would replace Helena as his playmate once he’d nabbed her — “What about you, Spunky?” — the ubiquitous grande dame appeared in scrubs and a labcoat, quipping wearily, “Killing you is really getting to be a chore.” And the chore doubled when Emily exhibited perfect timing and presented herself as a hostage to the gun-toting Hells. Demanding cash in exchange for her granddaughter-in-law, Helena whisked the periled Pauline towards the elevators…as Lucky, Elizabeth, and Skye stepped off one and an armed Luke closed in from the other side.

Meanwhile, at Castle Greyskull’s gate, Alexis spilled to Ric that Michael saw Carly kill AJ. Though uncomfortable with the idea, Ric requested a subpoena from a judge to force the tyke to testify. This was an idea that Alexis and Durant both found perfect. Sonny would, no doubt, confess to keep Michael and Carly safe and they would both get their daughters back. Carly was heartbroken as Jason hustled the freaked Michael upstairs and faced another shock when she realized that ex-hubby Sonny was getting closer than she’d thought to everyone’s favorite agent-without-ethics. Upstairs, Reese convened a mini-meeting of the Sonny’s Love Interests (Past and Present) Club with Reese complaining, “I’m an FBI agent who’s turning into a nanny — for a mobster, no less.” Sam told her what we already knew: she was hot for the Dimpled Don. The fact that the Dimpled Don had similar stirrings became obvious when he spoke to Reese about how much she meant to him and she cut off his heartfelt words with a passionate smooch. Welcome to the Family, Agent Super Nanny! Or not…because a torn Carly had an emotional conversation about her ex with Jason, admitting, “I want him to realize that no one can take my place.” Tabling the endless relationship debate until next week, the twosome headed upstairs to comfort and reassure Michael. Awww. Nearby, the ever-helpful Sam told Sonny all about Reese’s Fourth Grade Crush and newfound loyalty to him. Amused, her ex-bed partner snarked, “Sam, for the record, it’s none of your business. But, you didn’t have to tell me. I already know.” (Come on, everybody knows! People in the next county know!) Then, a violent storm began to rage outside. (That’s never good.) A regretful Ric arrived and served Sonny with the subpoena for Michael as, upstairs in bed, Michael’s nightmare returned once again…this time with a very different ending. After navigating the hospital halls, the boy picked up The Pillow o’ Doom…and suffocated AJ himself. Michael bolted upright in bed, gasping…Thursday, May 5, 2005
Emily tried to keep her cool with Nikolas, but when he touched her, she lost it because it reminded her of her her rapist (and his creepy look-alike), Conner. Liz gave Em support and told her to, “be honest with your husband.” Emily went back in to speak with her imprisoned hubby. “Talk to me,” begged Nik. Em apologized and said she still loved him. Then, she finally spilled about the rape. Durant offered Alexis a deal: “We can put Sonny behind bars if we work together.” Alexis agreed, but called it an “Unholy alliance.”….

Ric told Jason he’s convinced Carly killed AJ. Jason told Alexis he thinks she did it. “That was direct,” she laughed off. He believed her denial, but suspected she’s got a plan against Sonny. Jason then recalled that Monica’s “been actin’ funny lately.”….

Courtney told Jax she was wondering if Rachel killed AJ. Jax didn’t believe it, but started sporting some facial hair today. He, too, pondered if Carly did it. Rachel checked herself out of the hospital, and Court offered her a place to stay (Huh?) Rachel chided her for trying to frame her for the murder and turned down the offer….

Steven got a haircut (which is a shame ’cause those curls were so dang cute!)….

Carly told Sonny she doesn’t trust Reese, and even went so far as to suggest that perhaps the pretty fed killed AJ and set Carly up to take the fall. Sonny reminded her that Reese is the one who got through to Michael. After she stormed off, Sonny planted a smooch on Reese. Carly told Michael she didn’t kill AJ; he had a fit — literally, which broke Carly’s heart. Reese suggested Michael get professional help, but Sonny said no way. Carly swallowed her pride and thanked Reese. Michael ran away but Jason tracked him down and pleaded with him to stay. Mikey said he saw mom kill AJ — which Alexis overheard! So of course, she told Ric in a New York minute. Wednesday, May 4, 2005
At the prison, a shaggy, orange-jumpsuited, Nikolas requested a razor so he could personally groom before Emily’s arrival, but over at the hospital, Em was stalling the visit even as Elizabeth urged her to believe in her and Nik’s love and just tell him Connor had raped her. After a montage of the estranged lovebirds showering (separately), Emily arrived in a far uglier sweater than she had on at the hospital, to try and convince her hubby to let her go. But, first, she got his hopes up by telling him that Luke had a Big Crazy Plan to nab Helena and spring Nik from the cooler. “I’m not a bride anymore,” she said, haunted, asking him for a divorce. Nikolas was understandably confused at all her “we have no future” talk in the midst of his happy honeymoon hopes…and when he grabbed for her arm to get her to stay and talk…she snapped, screaming and hitting at him. Uh-oh…

Meanwhile, Alexis informed Ric that her custody of Kristina had been revoked. Judge=In Sonny’s pocket. Sonny=winner. Us=not surprised. Ric told Alexis he had a deal with Sonny to throw the case against Carly…and if he did, they could probably get Kristina back. Alexis assured him this was a Very Bad Idea and went to go chat up Dr. Winters on the hospital’s second floor for some much-needed psychiatric advice, while Ric tried to figure out something to do that didn’t involve pillows, chains, or poisoning. He ultimately decided he was going to prosecute Carly to the full extent of the law and forget the deal and even told Jason that! Kudos for not caving to pressure, Mr. Lansing!

Over at Greystone, Jason watched Sam play with Kristina, Reese helped Michael put together a puzzle and Sonny was Strangely Absent. Thankfully, John Durant called Reese to meet him at the hospital and exchange threats about their job security before Reese could call Mikey “buddy” more than once. Carly, the parent with a reason for not being with her kids, was over at the PCPD meeting Lorenzo, who promised to have her out of jail by lunch! Jason and Sam discussed the logistics of Ric and Sonny’s deal and Sam took a minute out to accuse Carly of AJ’s murder again while Jason gave her his most patient “you’re so silly, Sweetie!” look. Tangentially, Brook and Diego were discussing everything from AJ’s untimely demise to Jason’s status as a criminal to Lorenzo’s newfound mad parenting skillz over at Kelly’s. Whatever happened to iPods and last week’s LOST? Speaking of things that are lost, when Jason arrived to see Carly at the PD, she was so perky he was afraid she’d misplaced her mind! “What did you do?” She admitted that Lo had sprung her from jail and left with her twinkling Latin lover to see her son instead of sticking around and following Sonny’s Big Plan. This made Jason a bit pouty. He and Sonny were the only ones allowed to do illegal things to get her out of trouble! After getting back from threatening Durant’s job, Reese confused Ric by insisting that Michael couldn’t spend time with him, Kristina, and Leticia (finally, a legitimate parental figure!). Way to make him suspicious about what the poor boy saw! Sam covered by telling Ric that Reese was just protective and probably saw her little boy in Michael (and that’s supposed to be comforting?). Still confused, Ric went over to the hospital to see Alexis and received a fun phone call about Carly getting released on bail. As Jason questioned Monica about the potential of a Quartermaine killing AJ, Durant paid a visit to his old buddy the Mysterious Priest in the Confessional of Plots Against Sonny. After discussing a frame-up, Durant followed the collar-less guy to the courthouse…to…ALEXIS! Ooooh! Finally back at la Casa Corinthos, Carly thanked Lorenzo for all his help and went in to see Michael…who was cuddled up with Reese. As Carly prickled and tried to reach out, telling him she loved him and didn’t kill AJ, Michael pulled away and fled up the stairs. Carly lashed out at Reese, accusing her of finishing AJ’s brainwashing job in order to get closer to Sonny…and Reese shot back that if Carly really cared about her poor traumatized son, she would back off. Oh, yes, she DID say that to his MOTHER. And, yes, Carly slapped her across the face Jerry Springer-style. Ouch! Up in his room, Michael was rocked by his nightmare once again and he put his hands over his ears to shut it all out…

Sam warned Alcazar that if he wants Carly to be in his life, unfortunately Jason is part of the package….

Michael had a nightmare, and awoke screaming about seeing his mother with the pillow. Both Sonny and Carly freaked out when she heard what Michael told Reese….

Ric was furious that Alexis hadn’t returned his calls after running off to London with Kristina. Oblivious, Sonny went to the authorities on the sly and sent the bobbie’s (No, not Spencer— the London policemen) to bring the wayward girls back home. Sonny blackmailed Ric: Alexis can continue to see Kristina — if Carly beats the murder charge….

Emily came to the decision that she needs to tell Nikolas the truth about her rape….

Skye lost it when she found Luke seemingly unconscious and, believing he was dead, poured her heart out to him and admitted her true feelings. He was delighted, since he was only asleep. Furious, Skye slugged him. Their reunion was interrupted by a panic-stricken Tracy, who agreed to let Luke be her bodyguard to keep her safe from Helena.Monday, May 2, 2005
Lorenzo and Skye were striking their nefarious deal to save ELQ and ferret out AJ’s killer when a jealous Luke joined their table. Meanwhile, the truly nefarious Helena was holding Tracy at gunpoint over at the Quartermaine mansion. Tracy was quick to spill the truth about Luke’s Big Plan to nab the creepy Cassadine. Over at the PD, Ric was reeling from the realization that Alexis absconded with Kristina and In Utero Lansing. In a breach of etiquette that would’ve appalled Dear Abby, he lamented about his marital problems and the missing kids to his ex-wife Liz. Outside Michael’s hospital room, Miss Manners would’ve slapped down Officer Murphy PCPD for tearing Carly away from her son. “Mommy loves you,” Carly assured as Michael flailed and cried and she was taken down to the station. Tracy faced down Helena’s dire warnings with no flailing and Helena quickly escaped through the French doors as Edward and Justus arrived to demand an explanation of Tracy’s sudden wealth. Over at Kelly’s, Lorenzo irked Luke by mentioning the “personal services” part of his deal with Skye but as the Latin Lothario left, Skye was quick to tell Luke most of what was really going on. Darn! Back at the hospital, Sonny was almost using his inside voice when he tried to bond with Michael. A touched Reese poked her head in and stared at him, noting the sheen of tears in his eyes. Across town at the PD, Carly had no idea that Sonny’s “FBI bed bunny” was about to spend quality time with her son and her ex-hubby. She was too busy getting in a shot at her old nemesis Liz for narc-ing on her while the long-suffering Jason tried to calm her down.

Back at Avenue Q, Tracy assured Edward and Justus that the money in her accounts couldn’t be used to save ELQ. While Justus was still trying to figure out what was going on since he last aired, Jason and his trusty sidekick Sam arrived to demand his help for Carly. Over at the hospital, a Dr. Ryan had replaced Dr. O’Donnell and told Sonny and Reese, ominously, “Michael’s repressing something.” Something that the boy desperately wanted to forget. Oooo! Nearby, at the 4th floor Nurses’ Station, Elizabeth was back in her scrubs and updating Lorenzo on Carly’s arrest (Is he not Carly’s ex-kidnapper-boyfriend-person right now? Why does he get all his info secondhand?). Speaking of kidnapping, Ric was either trying to help Carly or trap her over at the police station. The lack of a shackle probably meant the former. “I hate it when you’re morally superior. It makes my skin crawl!” she told the hypocritical D.A. In other strange happenings, Emily popped out from behind a brick wall and confronted Luke outside Kelly’s after seeing Luke “manhandle” Skye as they discussed their relationship. “Get a grip, Girl, you’re spilling your cookies,” warned a baffled Luke. Back over at the Q. mansion, Justus pointed out to Sam and Jason that, “‘I didn’t do it’ isn’t the best defense,” before leaving to do case research (or maybe consider monastic vows again). Once alone, Sam didn’t waste any time in telling Jason that Carly could actually be guilty despite the fact that Jason has known Carly way longer than she has.

Back at the Hospital Room of Catatonia, Michael put his hands over his ears to drown out the sound of Sonny talking about a lovely island vacation. “Don’t shut me out!” Sonny pleaded, forgetting that inside voice thing. Reese interrupted, urging him to go check on Carly, earning a “thanks” and a shiny gold star from her favorite dimpled bad guy. Outside Kelly’s, Skye apologized for sending Luke mixed signals and reiterated that they were over. Emily burst into the Quartermaine study, interrupting Sam and Jason, and spilled to her already burdened brother that she was losing her mind. No kidding, Emily! Armed with the Carly Update, Lorenzo arrived in the Corinthos-Morgan Luxury Interrogation Suite. He pulled Carly close right as Sonny walked in. Awkward! As Luke arrived back at the Haunted Star after getting dumped by Skye (again), Tracy was all ready there, downing booze. And then Helena and her Black Gloves of Doom joined the party. Threats bordering on flirtation were exchanged. Despite catching Carly in Lorenzo’s capable arms, Sonny chose to talk to her about Michael’s condition instead of her choice in boyfriend-type-people. “Do not stand there and lecture me!” Carly snapped. Sonny lectured her anyway, Lorenzo assured her he would be there for her, and then she was taken to be booked. Meanwhile, back at the hospital, Reese was talking to Michael about her dead son again (is that supposed to be comforting?). Shots of Carly being processed were interspersed through Reese singing “Hush Little Baby” to someone who was already sufficiently hushed. Isn’t that why Mikey’s IN there? Back at the Haunted Star, Tracy tried to save her own skin, but Helena bade her stay. “So, what’s the plan, Vampira?” Luke wondered, pouring the Good Stuff (whiskey, not blood). Helena offered the twosome a speech about telling the police HER version of events…and then shot Luke several times in the chest! Oh, no! Then, she turned her gun on Tracy…eeeee! Back on the 4th floor of the hospital, Lorenzo was questioning an Asian nurse. Neat! Jason interrupted Asian Nurse’s potential airtime! Darn! Lorenzo wondered if Jason was covering for someone else at Carly’s expense. Speaking of Carly (again), Sonny threatened to blackmail Ric with Kristina’s custody issue unless he got the ex-Mrs. C. released. Ooo! As a lost-looking Carly settled into her cell in her snazzy prison blues, Michael tossed and turned and remembered seeing his mama in AJ’s room — picking up The Pillow. He cried out, Reese burst in…and he blurted out that he saw his mom do it. Oops…
