It’s the fight we’ve been waiting for: After Jason chastised Robin for telling AJ that he was Michael’s father all those years ago, she blasted him for pretending he’d fathered the kid in the first place, as Carly had asked him to do. Sam interjected that AJ was evil, though Robin called it a conditioned response to being continually cut out of the boy’s life. Robin then reminded Jason, “If it weren’t for me, you wouldn’t have a life.” Jason was silent (Shocker!) but Sam thanked Robin. Jason and Robin then agreed to disagree, but Robin still dissed Carly’s hold over him, which Sam silently echoed.
Luke arrived at Shady Brook, where Lulu had ended up. He found his little girl sobbing in the hall outside Laura’s room. She couldn’t go in and see her catatonic mom, Lulu cried. “The last time I saw mom she was happy,” Lulu noted, stating how desperately she wanted to cling to the good memories of her mother. Luke countered that just being with her can still be comforting, and he offered to escort her in. Lulu accepted, and the pair entered Laura’s room. After the visit, Lulu burst into tears and said she was never coming back again. Afterward at Kelly’s, Luke and Lulu endured an awkward silence, then discussed Laura’s condition. Luke managed to get Lulu to smile through her tears when he advised his daughter to remember the vibrant woman Laura once was. Conversation began to flow as Luke described his life with Laura in Beecher’s Corners. But when Lulu asked Luke why Laura went crazy, he said, “Because of me.” He explained that a traumatic incident returned to haunt her, but he took the blame of not being able to save her. Lulu was sympathetic. Then she asked Luke if he thought she’d go crazy like Laura, but Luke lovingly explained that she has a Spencer toughness that Laura never had, and that no matter what happens, Lulu was going to be okay.
Justus gave Alexis a motion to drop Jason from the deposition list, which, of course, she planned to challenge. Ric got it successfully denied, and he, Alexis and Justus showed up at the penthouse with a stenographer. The questioning began: Alexis got nowhere fast asking about Manny, so Ric took over and quizzed Jason about his past. Afterward, Alexis threatened to have Jason charged with perjury. Then, Jason offered to make a deal with Ric if he got Alexis to back off from Sam.
At the hospital, Robin caught Patrick flirting with a nurse. He commented on her “Stalin-like charm,” and when he tried to literally put a smile on her face, Robin slapped him — hard! He smiled that there was passion under her glacial exterior.
As Michael floundered in the frozen lake, Emily happened by, jumped in and saved the kid. Sonny and Carly arrived as Em had Michael laid out on the dock. Em gave the freaked folks a quick medical analysis, and Michael came to. Carly and Sonny were most thankful. With Michael safe and warm in his bed, Michael apologized and said he owes Emily everything. Michael fell asleep soon after, leaving Carly to fret about her son’s close call with the grim reaper. Sonny soothed her frazzled nerves and left. Later, Michael woke up from a nightmare, complaining of chills, so Carly called Patrick and asked him to make a house call. A blabby nurse mentioned the “house call” to Robin, who didn’t look pleased. At Carly’s, Patrick was disappointed to learn that the body she wanted him to examine was Michael’s. SHe made an impassioned plea for his assistance, and he caved. Patrick declared that Michael was fine. Doorbell! It was Robin. After not mincing any words, Carly gave Robin the impression that Patrick was there for “dessert.” Wink, wink.
Back at Casa de Corinthos, Sonny wrapped a blanket around a chilled Emily, and they drew close. The almost kissed! Then didn’t! Then, they did! And it was long, slow, passionate smooch with sexy music!
