Genie Francis tells Ew.com that her recent appearance on THE OPRAH WINFREY SHOW led to Maria Arena Bell (Head Writer and Executive Producer, YOUNG AND RESTLESS) creating a role especially for her. Winfrey asked Francis if she'd consider a return to GENERAL HOSPITAL and the actress answered, "If there is a way to go forward with Laura and make her into what I'd like her to be now, then perhaps I would do it. I would like her to be funny and have a little bit of an agenda that might look a little bit vengeful, but it really isn't… There is nothing in me that is willing to play a victim anymore. I'm sort of done with the wounded dove in my life." Francis' comment inspired Bell to tailor make exactly what the actress desired! Francis told Digest in our 4/5/11 issue, prior to the Y&R announcement, she was asked about joining another soap and said, "Absolutely. If there was a great part and it was the right kind of contract, I absolutely would." Francis begins airing on Y&R in late May.
