Editors Share Their Favorite Moments From This Year’s Emmy Awards
Mara Levinsky: James Reynolds’s (Abe, DAYS) Lead Actor speech was pretty special, and I got chills from the beautifully done tribute to GH’s 55th anniversary. But my all-time favorite moment might have been picking confetti off of Billy Miller’s (Drew, GH) face after the telecast ended. File that under something I didn’t expect to do that day!
Tom Stacy: I’ve always been a sucker for romance, which is probably why I was so touched by the Lifetime Achievement Award tribute to DAYS’s Bill and Susan Seaforth Hayes (Doug and Julie). Having met them on only a few occasions over the years, they have always welcomed me like an old friend. Together and apart, their long and illustrious careers are impressive, to say the least, but even moreso is their real-life love story. Still happily married for over 40 years — practically unheard in show business — it’s no wonder their thoughtful and funny acceptance speech had the crowd jumping to its feet, drowning out the honorees with thunderous applause .They are just as vital to Salem as they’ve always been and, as one of daytime’s first “it” couples, their appearance at the Emmys proved they still have — and will always have — “it.”
Devin Owens: The VIP cocktail party before the awards ceremony. Everyone is looking so beautiful and full of excitement. Plus, it’s fun to watch actors from one show, mixing up with the cast members of the others.
Lee Meyer: I loved the GH and Y&R anniversary segments. The montages were really spectacular, and bringing the casts onstage was a nice touch. I also have to admit I gasped when Wayne Brady told the teleprompter to “suck it”! That’s live TV for you….
