Dolan’s Daytime at Nighttime
AS THE WORLD TURNS’ Ellen Dolan (Margo) is dolin’ out the help for The WorkShop Theater Group by hosting Daytime at Nighttime on Nov. 17 at 8 p.m. at the Lucille Lortelle Theater in New York City.
Stars scheduled to perform include Martha Byrne (Lily, ATWT), Michael Park (Jack, ATWT), Tamara Tunie (Jessica, ATWT), Trent Dawson (Henry, ATWT), Alexandra Chando (Maddie, ATWT), Jennifer Ferrin (Jennifer, ATWT), Bobbie Eakes (Krystal, ALL MY CHILDREN), Kim Zimmer (Reva, GUIDING LIGHT), Robert Newman (Josh, GL) and Ron Raines (Alan, GL).
“You get to see the stars do their own thing,” previews Dolan. “You get to hear Martha’s new stuff, and Bobbie is going to do some of her own stuff as well. There is dinner afterward at Andavi Restaurant up the street from the theater, so fans can hang out with the stars, have dinner with them and talk.”
Just don’t expect Dolan herself to do a big song-and-dance number. “I am presenting, along with Bill Tatum (ex-Arthur, ATWT),” she reveals. “I don’t sing. I sing at home. I sing to my kid (5-year-old Angela), but even she shuts me up (laughs).”
Dolan has starred in some of The WorkShop Theater Group’s productions (Graceland, Pineapple & Henry), so the cause is close to her heart. “They do one [fund-raiser] every year,” she explains. “This year they asked me to help them put it together with daytime stars. I just got on the phone and started calling everyone [to perform]. This is the second year in a row The WorkShop Theater has had stuff in the [New York] Fringe Festival. The last couple of plays I saw have been really good. Suddenly I’m seeing it all pay off, the process that they go through with new plays.”
Dolan is also interested in getting involved in another part of the process. “I’m starting to write, and I’m going to start taking my stuff to them and see if I can write a play. I’ve never done it before. I know — everybody writes a screenplay or play, and now I’m doing it, too.”
