Divins Moonlights in the Fast Lane

Comments

Charles Divins is used to being recognized for his role as PASSIONS’ Chad, however, the actor confesses to being overwhelmed by the amount of notoriety he has garnered for his recent turn starring in a Nissan Maxima commercial.

“I’ve been surprised by the attention and how people identify me from it that quickly,” marvels Divins, a former model who had done his share of commercials before. “I’ve gotten far more attention from this one than any of my past ones. It’s getting to the point where more people who don’t watch PASSIONS stop me because of the commercial. It’s funny; to me, it’s just a a 30-second character, but they’ve been playing it so much.”

Even more interesting is that Divins is getting all this attention for a non-speaking role. “It’s really cool. The way it’s edited together makes it look like a quick music video. It gives you the feel of Paris in the ’40s and James Bond-esque action with a cool car. It’s better than having a speaking role.” Divins even did his own stunt: “Yep, that was really me jumping into the car,” he laughs. “No stunt double!”

Divins could have used a double to help him cope with the long hours he had to put in to get the job done. “We taped it over two full nights, from 4 in the afternoon until dawn, and I was working PASSIONS the same days. So it was two continuous 24-hour days — but all for the greater good!”
