HIDING IN PLAIN SIGHT
The villain of “Vendetta” veiled his identity behind a monk’s habit, and while a murderous monk figured in Code, the real enemy hid behind his reputation as a scholar and “Teacher.”
YIN AND YANG
PASSIONS likes to get witchy with Tabitha, but Code employed a wizard — Sir Ian McKellen played Gandalf in The Lord of the Rings trilogy.
PALE IN COMPARISON
Whitney experimented with self-flagellation while at the convent before lightening up with the wig and contact lenses. Code‘s Silas the monk was also into corporal mortification, but the albino Opus Dei operative never lightened up.
WIGGIN’ OUT
Whitney’s wig was sassy and funky, but critics panned the long dark locks Tom Hanks sported to play Code‘s religious symbologist, Robert Langdon.
SINS OF THE BODY
The Priory of Sion had its pagan sex rituals, but PASSIONS’ Jessica Bennett is a straight-up hooker.
MEDAL OF HONOR
Alistair’s coveted chalice was an actual cup, but in Code, the Holy Grail symbolized a woman.
HEIR CARE
Sure it’s nice to be called “The Innocent One,” but Code‘s cryptologist Sophie Neveu one-upped Whitney by being an actual descendant of Jesus.
FOOLS FOR LOVE (OF GOD)
Whitney believed she was protecting the Church — as did Code‘s Bishop Aringarosa and Silas. Okay, no difference there!
