Hope decided to surprise Alice with a special gift. She enlisted Jennifer, Maggie and Julie’s help and built an interactive family tree on the Web featuring clips, photos, poems, etc. from Horton days gone by. Doug and Julie got stuck on the road due to the ice storm and spent time reminiscing about times with their friends, family and loved ones. Mickey and Maggie did the same while they waited for the two to show up. Once all together, they realized they had 40 years of photos and memories to include on Alice’s Web site. While waiting for Jack to return home with the flowers for her Thanksgiving centerpiece, Jennifer shared memories of Jack with Frankie. She grew concerned when her husband was delayed, unaware that his car skidded on the ice and plunged into the bridge. At the loft, Mimi and Shawn took their relationship to the next level and finally made love. Kate found shocking results when sneaking a peek at Claire’s chart at the hospital. Marlena told Alex she made a decision about which man she wants to be with. While that drama was playing out, Belle and Philip braced for bad news from Lexie about their baby girl.

Mimi and Shawn got hot and heavy on his bed. They discussed taking their relationship to the next level and made out some more. A call from Hope telling Shawn that Thanksgiving was at Jennifer’s interrupted them. Shawn turned the ringer off on the phone, but then his computer beeped because he got an instant message. It was from Alice. Shawn wrote her back, then remembered that he bought Mimi flowers. She was touched. They get back onto the bed and started kissing. Mimi’s top got stuck on Shawn’s zipper. They got unstuck, then Mimi realized something was burning. It was the scarf she put over the lamp. They realized there were too many signs and they should wait to have sex.
Jen made lists for Thansgiving dinner. She realized she forgot to order the cornucopia from the florist and was upset. It’s tradition, she explained, then added that she wanted this Thanksgiving to be perfect. Jen went to check on Jack, Jr. Jack secretly called the florist to order the flowers. When Jen came back, she was alarmed to find that Jack was gone. She turned on the radio and heard that there was a black- ice advisory and residents were encouraged to stay home. Jack — with the flowers in tow — drove home. His car skidded on the road due to the ice storm, but he was okay. He called Jen from his cell to check in and tell her that he picked up the flowers. Jen thanked him, but said that she wished he was home. Their song came on the radio. They exchanged sweet “I love yous.” After they hung up, Jack’s car crashed on the bridge and it plunged into the river.
Kate continued her massage of John. He thanked her for helping him. Since he was half naked and she was in her revealing nightgown on top of him, things got a little awkward. John apologized; Kate said she understood that he loves Marlena. “I don’t know what I would do without you,” John whispered. Through the binoculars, Marlena spied them and assumed they were having sex. She was upset that he appeared to be turning to Kate so quickly after she chose Alex. “I just don’t get it, that’s all,” Doc Evans said, with tears in her eyes. “Is he lying? Is he toying with me?” Alex said he didn’t know, but hated to see her hurt.
Philip and Belle worried about Claire, who was crying uncontrollably and burning up with fever. They realized they needed to take the baby to the hospital. Philip called Kate and told her Claire was sick, then asked her to alert Lexie. Kate said she would and would meet him at the hospital. Belle called her mother and asked her to meet them there, too. Alex, Marlena, John and Kate arrived at the hospital. Marlena and John reassured Belle — who was blaming herself for Claire’s condition because of her postpartum depression — that it wasn’t her fault. A grim Lexie told the group that Claire had some sort of infection. Philip tried to keep Belle calm. She thanked him for his support. Alex went to check on Claire’s condion and Kate got coffee, leaving John and Marlena alone together. He noticed her new pearls; she told him Alex gave them to her on their wedding day long ago. Marlena asked him how he felt about Kate. John insisted she was just a friend. Kate peeked in Claire’s file and was alarmed by what she saw.
