Mimi and Shawn went to the hospital, where they had their first in vitro fertilization treatment. Afterwards, the doctor told them the hormone shots worked. In fact, they had five mature
follicles. Mimi started to panic about the prospect of having quintuplets and wondered if she and Shawn were ready for such an undertaking. Shawn calmed her down and insisted that they could handle it. The doctor handed Shawn a plastic bottle and told him it was time to do his part. Mimi couldn’t resist giggling. When all was said and done, the doctor informed Mimi and Shawn that they would know the results in 18 hours, adding that Mimi had only harvested one egg. Hence, the odds weren’t that good. Still, an excited Mimi and Shawn peered into the microscope at what they hoped was their future baby.
Kate erupted, when she heard Austin and Sami were engaged, while Austin, Lucas and Carrie defended Sami. Will walked in on all the yelling and wanted to know what was going on. Austin told Will that he and Sami were engaged, and Will was delighted. He
asked Kate not to mess up this wedding, like she had with Sami
and Lucas. Austin assured Will the wedding would happen. Lucas
warned Kate that no one would have anything to do with her if she
meddled in their romantic lives. Lucas and Carrie told Will about their baby, and he was excited about the prospect of having a sibling. Kate, who couldn’t handle a minute more of this, finally
left. Out in the hall, Kate warned Lucas that she was going to bring down Sami and mentioned his earlier suspicions that Sami and Lexie were up to something. Inside, Sami opened another bottle of champagne and freaked about being doomed with bad luck when the popped cork broke her glass.
Lexie arrived home to find that Abe had prepared her favorite dinner. Abe told his wife that he wanted them to have a fresh start. He knew Lexie was trying to eliminate stress from her life and that a lot of it was because of him. Lexie maintained that it wasn’t Abe’s fault, as she thought back to Sami threatening to reveal her affair with Tek. Abe, however, knew that his impotence had affected their lives. Abe told Lexie he loved her, and they kissed. Theo walked in on his parents and asked if he could have a baby brother. Abe and Lexie avoided the
question; then, Lexie put Theo to bed. Later, Abe said he wished he could give Theo a brother, while Lexie assured him it wasn’t a problem. She was happy with their little family of three. Still, Abe said he would understand if Lexie wanted a divorce and a new man. The doorbell ran, and it was Tek, toting police reports for
Abe. A timer went off in the kitchen, so Abe left to check on dinner. Alone with Lexie, Tek could sense that she was upset and told her that she deserved better than Abe. The doorbell rang again and this time it was Kate, who wanted to speak to Lexie, privately. Abe and Tek headed to the kitchen to talk shop, while
Kate asked Lexie what Sami had on her or vice versa. Lexie wouldn’t spill a word and just said that she and Sami didn’t like each other. Kate wouldn’t relent and offered to help Lexie fend
off Sami. Kate said that she had never been more motivated. Somehow, Sami had wormed her way back into Austin’s life, and Kate was determined to keep her from ruining it again.
