Bo, Hope and the long-missing Zach share a few seconds of family bonding time, when Hope suggests phoning Germany to check on Shawn. Bo’s against it, and he and Hope exchange opposing views on the Shawn/Belle/Philip triangle. Ultimately, they agree that they both want their son happy, that it’s up to Belle to choose between Shawn and Philip, and that they’ve been fighting way too much lately. So they kiss and make up. Bo announces that he has a surprise for Hope and exits. When Bo returns with blue paint on his shirt, Hope tries to pry the surprise out of him, but Bo refuses to spill a word. Bo tells Hope to pack Zack’s things. He’s spending the night at Doug and Julie’s. The faster Hope packs, the faster she’ll get to see her surprise.
Philip tells Belle to “just say so,” if she wants to spend the rest of her life with Shawn. Then, the two guys squabble about who deserves her. Belle tells them to hush. She loves both of them, but she’s decided to … stay with Philip. Shawn insists he’ll never accept that, and the guys squabble some more. Finally, Belle tells Shawn to go home. She’s staying with her husband. Shawn utters a dramatic, “I love you and I always will,” before going, leaving Belle in tears.
As Shawn exits, he bumps into John, who guesses what went down by Shawn’s angry attitude: Belle dumped him for Philip. John supports Belle’s choice, but Shawn says he can’t. John tells Shawn he’s selfish for not putting Belle’s needs first and allowing her to live up to her wedding vows. Shawn scoffs that John’s kidding himself if he thinks Belle’s going to live happily ever after with Philip, tells him to go to hell, and splits.
Back in his hospital room, Philip tells Belle her decision to stay with him has made his dreams come true. They exchange “I love you”s, and Belle helps Philip get back into his bed. Philip suggests Belle go get herself a cup of tea, so he can take a nap. But before Philip can doze off, there’s a knock on the door and in walks Heather Mills McCartney. Heather explains that she’s been talking to other soldiers in rehab. She lost her leg below the knee, too. Heather tells Philip about the perils of minefields and assures him that he can have a fulfilling life despite his injury. It’s simply a matter of taking control, committing to physiotherapy and rehab, and, eventually, getting a prosthetic leg like the one she wears. While Heather encourages Philip, Shawn does exactly the opposite when he runs into Belle, lacing into her for lying to Philip when she said that she loved him.
Brady continues to scream for Chloe on the tarmac outside the Titan jet. Chloe gets him to stop by admitting it’s her, but insists Brady stay away from her. Brady blames Nicole for the situation and blasts her for lying to him all these months about Chloe being alive. A sobbing Nicole admits she knew Chloe was alive, but swears she had no choice. Chloe made her promise not to breathe a word. Brady isn’t buying it and calls Nicole a slew of nasty adjectives — conniving, manipulating … Chloe comes to Nicole’s rescue insisting that she made Nancy and Nicole keep her secret, but Brady still blames her. He’s positive Nicole tricked Chloe into going along with this scheme so she could keep him for herself. Brady orders Nicole to leave, pack her belongings, and be out of the Kiriakis mansion by the time he gets back. He never wants to see her again. While Nicole, who’s never looked more sympathetic, cries like a baby, Chloe continues to stand by her word that this is all HER doing. She was the one who lied. She was the one who decided to leave town and never come back. Confused and hurt, Brady asks, “Are you saying you don’t love me?”
