Kate tells John she believes Belle will stay faithful to Philip and honor their wedding vows. John chimes in that wedding vows are sacred. That’s why he wants to renew his with Marlena. Kate wonders if it’s because John broke them, when THEY made love. John insists that he and Kate have nothing to feel guilty about; they thought Roman and Marlena were dead. Then, John goes off about having “corrupted” Doc, years ago, when he made love to her after Roman returned from the dead. John and Doc’s marriage wasn’t even valid at the time. Kate points out that John and Marlena’s marriage isn’t valid, now — Marlena was declared legally dead — but that doesn’t make Marlena any less his wife. John says that’s a good point in favor of renewing his vows to Doc and encourages Kate to do the same with Roman.
Mimi imagines telling Rex the truth about her abortion and it doesn’t bode well. “Murderer, murderer, murder …” Rex taunts Mimi, as she snaps back into reality. Mimi’s positive that going to jail is a better alternative than ‘fessing up to Rex and have him hate her forever. Yeah, sure it is!
Shawn tells a disheveled Rex that he looks like hell. (And he DOES!) Turns out Rex hasn’t slept a wink, because he’s worried about Mimi. Rex asks Shawn if he’s changed his mind about going to Germany. Shawn says he hasn’t. Shawn went to the airport to buy a ticket, but his credit card was rejected. He asks Rex for a loan, and Rex says, “No way!” Shawn leaves as Mimi arrives and announces she has something to tell Rex. Mimi and Rex have a confusing talk in which she reveals nothing new about WHY she confessed to trying to kill Jan.
Bo and Hope get a letter from Salem Superior Court addressed to Shawn. Bo opens it and learns that Shawn’s court date for making like Evil Knievel and crashing through the church window has been moved up. Shawn arrives on cue and asks to borrow money for plane fare, so he can be with Belle in Germany. In stern father mode, Bo refuses. He tells Shawn to leave Philip and Belle alone and that leaving the country would violate the terms of his bail. When Bo goes to call Mickey, Shawn begs Hope to help him. For some inexplicable reason, Hope gives Shawn her debit card and password, after making him promise to be back by his trial date. Shawn races out the door, and Bo realizes Hope gave him money.
Brady rehashes the Chloe situation with Lucas, revealing that he told Nicole he believes Chloe is dead. It’s all a plan to lull Nicole into a false sense of security in hopes she’ll slip up and lead him to Chloe.
Sami bursts into the Kiriakis mansion and confronts Nicole about sassing off to her in front of Lucas. Aside from hating Sami’s guts, Nicole HAD to make it look realistic. Brady and Lucas were shocked to see the two mortal enemies talking. The witches agree to help keep each other’s nasty secrets to spare them losing the men they love and the respect of their family and friends. Not that they HAVE any friends. When Brady arrives, Sami hides and Nicole plants kisses on him. Brady reiterates that he believes Chloe is dead. He just needs to talk to Nancy to erase all his doubts. Nicole tries to stop him, knowing that she and Brady will be history if Nancy spills the beans about Chloe. But Brady is determined and leaves. Sami emerges and tells a frantic Nicole there’s only one thing to do: get rid of Chloe, permanently!
Asleep in Philip’s hospital room, Belle mutters Shawn’s name. Philip asks if it’s because Shawn’s a whole man and he’s not. Huh? Belle insists that Philip is no less of a man than Shawn and swears to remain by his side. Kate arrives for some private time with her son, and John and Belle leave. Kate informs Philip that John pulled some strings. He’s being sent to Salem for treatment, which means Belle will be by his side throughout his recovery. Philip is ecstatic. Meanwhile, John tells Belle how proud he is of her standing by Philip, but wonders where that leaves her and Shawn. Belle swears she’ll stay with Philip as long as he needs her. Shawn will just have to understand.
