Shawn, Belle, Mimi and Philip arrived at the church for Carrie and Lucas’s wedding. “My wife’s sister is marrying my brother. Talk about keeping it in the family,” cracked Phil. Bridesmaid Belle suggested that Carrie was not over Austin. The four discussed their hopes that the in-vitro would be successful. Mimi and Shawn lit a candle and prayed that everything worked out with their surrogate mom. Shawn then called the doctor and learned that both eggs fertilized successfully. He was thrilled and shared the news with the group, who was equally overjoyed. They discussed how their kids could be baptized together and go to school together. Mimi warned them not to jinx it.
In the bride’s room, Roman noted that Carrie seemed anxious, but she said she was fine. He asked if she was still in love with Austin. She said she would always love Austin — and Mike — but what they had wasn’t meant to last. She and Lucas have been friends forever and are comfortable with each other, she explained. “That’s my girl, sure and mature,” smiled Caroline, who was putting finishing touches on the gown. She asked Roman to leave the room so she could dress Carrie. Carrie put the frock on and panicked because it was loose; she had lost weight. “Normally I’d be very excited about this,” said Carrie, who was concerned about the pregnancy. Caroline said she probably got the measurements wrong and would fix it. Carrie lamented that her mother, Anna, couldn’t make it. Or John and Marlena. She said if she had kept the original date, they would have been able to. Caroline gave Carrie a gift from her mom.
Billie checked in on Austin to see if he was okay with Lucas marrying Carrie. She admitted she couldn’t see him with Sami. Austin confided when he was alone with Carrie, he wondered what it would be like to be with her. Lucas overheard and told him it wasn’t wise to do that. Lucas then commented that he always thought it would be Sami who broke Austin’s heart, but maybe now it would be the other way around. Austin said that wouldn’t happen.
Will worried to Lucas that Sami would do something to ruin the wedding. No way, Lucas assured him.
Kate confronted a jumpy Sami before the wedding began and revealed that she heard the telltale message Sami left for Lexie. She told her rival she was determined to stop Sami and Austin’s wedding. Sami held her ground. After, Billie advised her mother to butt out of her kids’ lives and get on with her own…. Austin asked why Sami seemed so jittery. She said it was because of her role in the wedding. Austin then queried how she felt about Lucas moving on. Sami said she was happy for her sister and her ex-fiancé. Austin declared his love to her and promised they would be happy together.
Lexie ran into Tek outside the church. He asked if she blew Sami out of the water. “I couldn’t,” she said feebly, then said something vague about the phone call she received…. Roman met up with Abe and urged him to give Lexie another chance. “Think about what you’re giving up and the impact it will have on your son,” said Roman. Abe noted that their problems started when Lexie learned she was a DiMera and that it would always be an issue between them. Plus, she’s cheated before, he pointed out. Roman revealed that Lexie pleaded with Roman to talk to Abe on her behalf. After some cajoling from Roman, Abe agreed to talk to her…. Lexie came into the church, where Kate pounced on her and demanded the truth about the blackmail. Again, Lexie kept mum. Back outside, Lexie and Tek resumed their talk about Sami. He took her in his arms… just as Abe walked out to catch them together.
At the race track, a peeved Max checked out his engine and scratch on his car. He said that he couldn’t believe a female driver did it. She asked him if he had a problem with that. He said no, but he did have a problem with her track etiquette. They engaged in a war of words. He asked who she was. She accused him of not doing his homework if he didn’t know. He said she must not be doing well if he hadn’t heard of her. Ouch, she replied. She revealed that he was part of the reason she got into racing. He challenged her to another spin around the track. They tied. Max said he allowed it; she claimed she was taking it easy. He said he had to get going and removed his racing suit to reveal a button-down shirt and tie. He said he had a wedding to get to and would invite her, but the racing suit wasn’t appropriate. She removed hers to reveal a pale blue satin cocktail dress. She motioned for him to zip her up. He put on his jacket. She told him she just happened to be going to the same wedding.
