Chelsea and Abby stopped by the garage to look for Max, who wasn’t there. Chelsea assumed he’d taken Stephanie to Lookout Point. A jealous Chelsea found Stephanie’s locker open, took out her backpack, and started looking through it. She found a
notepad, where Stephanie had written Max’s name and had drawn hearts around it. Certain that Stephanie was after her boyfriend, Chelsea grabbed a tube of lipstick and scrawled “whore” on
Stephanie’s locker. Abby pleaded with Chelsea to wipe it off to no avail, and the two gals left. Meanwhile, Max and Stephanie were out sipping coffee. Max went on about Chelsea, and Stephanie told him not to let the “crazy” wench get to him. As usual, Max defended Chelsea with a vengeance, saying that she was scared,
insecure and jealous of his friendship with Stephanie. After their chat, the duo left and headed back to the garage to work on Max’s car. Stephanie was shocked when she saw her locker, as Max
wondered, who would have done such a thing? Stephanie knew who: Chelsea! Upset, Stephanie fell into Max’s comforting arms, as Abby and Chelsea approached the garage.

On the roof, EJ insisted that Sami tell Austin the truth,
reminding her how she’d told him that Austin valued honesty above everything else. Sami remembered back to when Austin left her at the altar in Vegas and said that she couldn’t lose him again, or she would die. Sami wondered if the person sending her notes REALLY knew what she had done or was just guessing. “Do you really want to take that gamble?” asked EJ, adding that the mysterious note writer could be putting a note in Austin’s hand at that very moment. Sami was still reluctant to ‘fess up, not wanting to turn the best night of her life into the worst one.

Downstairs, Carrie cried out that she only married Lucas
because she thought she was pregnant. Lucas told Carrie that they loved each other and everything would be fine, before going to fetch her an aspirin. Austin, who overheard everything, walked
in. Lucas returned, said Sami didn’t have any aspirin, and headed to the drugstore, asking Austin to look after Carrie. Alone, Carrie told Austin that she felt like a failure. She was never
pregnant and feels dumb for believing she had been. Austin noted that Carrie and Lucas could always adopt, but Carrie said that wasn’t what was bothering her. She admitted that she’d only
married Lucas because she thought she was pregnant and it was a HUGE mistake. Austin asked if Carrie wished she’d have married him. Carrie said there was no point getting into that, since she was married to Lucas and Austin was engaged to Sami. Just then
the Gloved Hand slipped a note under the door, as Lucas returned and nearly caught him.

In Cincinnati, Steve told Kayla that he belonged there and that they should go their separate ways. Kayla said she couldn’t say goodbye to Steve again. Steve insisted that they couldn’t have a meaningful relationship based on a past that only one of
them remembered. Kayla implored Steve to fight for his family, but he admitted that he didn’t want to. A teary-eyed Kayla swore that she’d love Steve for the rest of her life, but Steve
insisted that she deserved someone better than him. He urged her to go to Africa, like she’d planned, and to let Stephanie get on with her career. “You’re talking like a parent. You’re talking
like my husband,” noted a relentless Kayla. No matter, Steve pointed out that Kayla was asking him to give up a life that was comfortable and familiar for a blank slate. “What would you choose?” asked Steve. Finally realizing there was nothing she could do to convince Steve to stay with her, Kayla left, sobbing.
