John tried to change Marlena’s decision to separate by kissing her passionately. Later, the pair basked in that post-lovemaking glow, wrapped in each other’s arms on the couch. They talked about the great time they’d had in Europe and about standing by Belle during her time of need. John said that he
always stood by his women and tried to convince Marlena to stay with him and work on herself while they lived under the same roof.
Eventually, John relented and said he’d move into the Salem Inn. Meanwhile, Marlena headed to the hospital. Roman stopped by her office, and she told him about the women’s issues seminars she
attended in New York and that they’d inspired her to start a self-empowering group for women. Roman filled Marlena in on Lucas and Carrie’s wedding and Carrie’s false pregnancy. She told him about
Belle’s pregnancy. Finally, Marlena told Roman that she and John were separating, although she still loved him. It was something she had to do for herself and hoped it was only temporary.
Max arrived at the garage, and Abby convinced him to give her a summer job there. Max asked Abby about Jack, and she told him that her dad was doing better and that things would be back to
normal soon. Translation: Jack and Jennifer would reunite and Frankie would be out of the picture. Max wasn’t so sure about that
and mentioned how much Frankie loved Jennifer. Meanwhile, at the Deveraux house, Jennifer brought Jack a sandwich and fussed over
him. The doorbell rang and it was Frankie. He and Jennifer kissed, as Jack looked on. After Jack thanked Frankie for getting him into the program that saved his life, Frankie headed to the kitchen.
Alone with Jack, Jennifer suggested they take Jack Jr. to the aquarium. Jack recounted a funny story about taking Abby there, years ago. Frankie returned and listened to Jack and Jennifer
reminisce about their past, before getting called away to the garage, where Max quizzed him about the situation with Jack and Jennifer. Then, Abby returned home and was thrilled to see her parents looking happy together. She told Jack and Jennifer about
her new job, before running off to share her news with Chelsea. Alone, Jack and Jennifer shared an awkward moment as they came oh-so-close; then, backed away from each other.
Belle told Shawn that her parents made her realize she
belonged with Philip, despite being pregnant with his baby. Shawn countered by saying that Mimi was his wife and he belonged with her. Belle admitted that she loved Philip, but a part of her would always belong to Shawn. Belle and Shawn reminisced about their high school days and trip to Paris, when Shawn gave Mimi her first kiss. Belle whined that she never thought Mimi would come between them back then. Shawn reminded Belle about her moving on with Philip, while he was being held hostage by Jan. Belle announced that she had something to return to Shawn and handed him the Irish
ring he’d given her years ago. Belle started to cry, noting that Mimi should have the ring now. Then, she told Shawn that it was time to go home to her family and that they could only be friends
and nothing more, before walking out crying.
Mimi returned home and told Philip about hiring a lawyer to make custody arrangements for their children. Philip wasn’t thrilled that it had come to this, but understood. He noted that he still planned on suing the hospital for the egg mix-up and shared his theory that it might have been done on purpose. Mimi
mentioned that it would have to have been someone with a MAJOR grudge against them.
