Crystal Chappell (Carly, DAYS; Gina, VENICE) has been named Ambassador for the Hetrick-Martin Institute, (HMI). HMI, home of the Harvey Milk High School in New York City, believes all young people, regardless of sexual orientation or identity, deserve a safe and supportive environment in which to achieve their full potential. Hetrick-Martin creates this environment for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning (LGBTQ) youth between the ages of 12 and 24 and their families. Chappell became involved with the institute after visiting the Harvey Milk High School and through her efforts HMI has receive hundreds of donations and in-kind gifts from individuals and Starbuck's coffee. She joins other HMI ambassadors — Tim Gunn, Cheyenne Jackson and Mary-Louise Parker to name a few — in raising awareness about HMI and it's philosophy that no young person should feel ashamed of who they.
