The Conversation Page 2
Fergus: If you knew that you could never speak again, what would be the last thing you would say?
Arias: “I love you.” But not to you! I would call my mom and tell her. My mom is the most important person in my life. What do you like most about acting?
Fergus: The wonderful thing about acting is that you have license to do and say things that you later have to pay the consequences for in real life. If I were to talk to an incredibly attractive woman on a New England wharf and kiss her, I’d have to call her — at least! Here, I don’t even have to talk to you! I’m kidding. You have the ability to explore the way humans interact without using your own life. You get to find out things about yourself and other people, even if it’s fictional. Arias: What do you like most about your job?
Fergus: My favorite thing about my job is that you get to be a kid and make believe. And it pays the bills. If you told me at 13 years old, “You’re going to be on a soap opera and hang out with really cool people and pretend to be in love with these beautiful, talented women and you’re going to live it up,” I wouldn’t have believed it. Fergus: Since PASSIONS is going to be over soon, what’s your dream job after PASSIONS?
Arias: I would love to be a party planner. Fergus: Oh, really? An event planner? That’s excellent.
Arias: I’ve been working on it for the last two months with my sister because we want to open an office in Miami and one here. We’re going to start with weddings. I hope that I can do it. I don’t know what’s going to be my next real job, so I don’t know if I’m going to have time. But I love to plan weddings, oddly enough, and parties because I’m very organized. I like to have everything ready and I want everything to be perfect and I know that the brides want their wedding day to be perfect.Digest: Same question for Dylan.
Fergus: I’d love to do one of those independent films that while you’re working on it, you start to realize just how good it could be, and then it turns into this amazing movie. I’d like to work on some small project that is just great and turns into a wonderful thing that people truly enjoy. [PASSIONS] is my dream job. I want to do this some more. Digest: Have you ever had a discouraging moment in your career?
Arias: I haven’t had one. I’ve been so lucky since I started. I’ve never stopped working, and I’ve done so many things that I enjoyed doing. I’m so happy.
Fergus: Silvana is a little bit blessed. Someone came down with their magic wand and went, bing!
