1987
Edward’s cousin Herbert came to Port Charles. Herbert’s son Quentin, Quentin’s wife Betsy and Edward all wanted Herbert’s fortune. Betsy killed Herbert and his money went to his secretary, Autumn, who was romancing top cop Robert Scorpio.
1988
Monica was named the hospital Chief of Staff over Alan, who sabotaged her career. Monica quit and went to the Green Meadows spa to rest, where she had an affair with a young tennis coach, Ward, who turned out to be Tracy’s son Ned (and her nephew by marriage). Ned’s father Lord Larry Ashton arrived in Port Charles and started freeloading off the Qs.
1989
Larry soaked the Quartermaines for money. Ned began dating student nurse, Dawn Winthrop, Monica’s long-lost illegitimate child. Tracy returned to Port Charles and blackmailed her former husband Larry with the knowledge that he was a phony lord. Edward left his money to Ned before disappearing over the Bermuda Triangle. Alan and Ned fought over control of the ELQ board. Edward’s ghost haunted the mansion. Lucy Coe seduced Alan.
1990
Tracy was arrested for David McAllister’s murder and later exonerated. Alan forced Tracy out of ELQ. Dawn moved into the mansion. Lucy leaked photos of herself and Alan to the press. Monica got a quickie divorce and Lucy and Alan married. Monica was blackmailed about her affair with Ned. Dawn and Ned married and she learned about his affair with Monica. Dawn left Ned and took up with Decker. Lucy became pregnant with Scotty’s baby, which she passed off as Alan’s. Alan turned ELQ over to Tracy to get away from Lucy. Tracy and Scotty had an affair.
1991
When Scotty told Alan the truth about Lucy’s baby, Alan threw Lucy out of the mansion, she went into premature labor and miscarried. Alan then divorced her. Dawn was murdered. Monica moved back to the mansion. Alan and Monica hired Paul Hornsby to rebuild ELQ. Tracy was attracted to financier Harlan Barrett until she learned he was buying up ELQ stock. A.J. got into trouble in school and blamed his parents’ divorce. Alan and Monica remarried. Paul Hornsby was ordered by a cartel to marry Tracy for her stock. Edward was discovered alive and gave control of ELQ to Ned. Tracy learned the truth about her marriage but refused to divorce Paul.
