Christmas Comes Early

Comments

Cara’s return to Pine Valley may threaten Jake’s family with Amanda, but in real life, Lindsay Hartley (Cara) is a happily married (to SMALLVILLE’s Justin Hartley; ex-Fox, PASSIONS) mom, to 6-year-old Isabella. Here, she shares her plans for the holiday season ahead.
“My husband’s family and my family are coming here, so I get to cook! Which, I gotta say, I’m really looking forward to. I spent Thanksgiving with the Martsolfs, Eric and his wife, Lisa, and she is an amazing cook. We went there for the second year in a row and she totally inspired me. I was like, ‘You know what? I am going to cook it up this year!’ It was so good, just amazing what she did. So I am going to go all out. I’m going to start cooking three days early. I’ve got my in-laws here to help me and my mom is coming in early, too, so it’s going to be awesome. Usually, when I do Christmas, it’s kind of stresssful, but I feel good this year. I’m like, ‘I’m excited!’ I’m organized this time, really organized. I’ve already done my dry food shopping. If it doesn’t need to be refrigerated, I’ve got it. I know that sounds a little crazy, but the thing is, you never know if you’re never going to be working a lot and all of that, so sometimes you have to be super-duper organized.

“Planning for Christmas just gets crazier now that I have a six-year-old. She loves Christmas. We got back from Canada last night, where we were visiting her daddy on the set, and I was unpacking and she went to her room and gathered things from her own room and wrapped them up with tissue paper, put them in a Christmas bag and wrote everyone’s name, the friends and family we’re having over, on their gifts. We have four Christmas trees in our house; we’re Christmas-crazy people. And she put them under different trees in the house. She’s really into it. Justin and I, both of us, Christmas is our favorite holiday. And to have the baby, it was just magical. And for them to start talking and you explain to them about Santa Claus and how he comes at night, then it really becomes such a fantasy. You really remember what you believe. Whatever your religion is, it brings that innocent quality, that magic. And now, it’s like, at this age, it’s like, they’re just excited. Oh, my God! Santa’s coming!”

As for New Year’s Eve? “We usually stay in, but this year I think we’re going to go out — probably with Nadia [Bjorlin, Chloe, DAYS] and some of the folks from ALL MY CHILDREN. It’s going to be great!”
