Chris Is It
Bob and Kim’s son is set to return to the ATWT canvas yet again next month. In anticipation of Daniel Cosgrove‘s turn as Chris Hughes (as the ninth incarnation of the role), we’ve compiled this handy timeline to help you brush up on the ins and outs of Chris’s history.
1986: Chris is born on-screen on August 30 in a cabin where Bob and Kim were vacationing. They named their first son after his beloved grandfather, Christopher. Casey assisted Kim during the birth and is Chris’s godfather.
1987-1996: Most of Chris’s childhood was normal and uneventful, but he did have somewhat of a rebellious streak.
1997: While smoking a cigarette in the basement, bad boy Chris accidentally caught the Milltown church on fire.
1999: Chris was accepted to Columbia University but later expelled for cheating. He moved back home and transferred to Oakdale University but didn’t focus on his studies. Bob was forced to kick him out. Chris got a job as an intern at WOAK.
2000: Chris dropped out of school altogether and befriended the much older Molly Conlan. Their friendship quickly morphed into a brief romance. Molly called it off, however. That same year, Chris’s one-time friend accused him of stalking her.
2001: Chris was smitten with a 16-year-old girl named Daisy who inspired him to go back to college. He was later shocked to learn that she was really Holden and Molly’s young daughter, Abigail. Their relationship fizzled after Abby learned the truth about his affair with her mom.
2002: Chris had sex with Emily while spying on her for Tom. She didn’t see a future with him, however, so he left town to go to medical school.
2003: Chris returned to Oakdale and started a medical internship with John Dixon. While at Memorial, Chris helped exonerate his troubled young cousin Will, who was in the psychiatric ward for starting a fire at the Snyder Farm.
2004: Chris began a romance with another young girl, Alison, and got caught up in a murder mystery case at Memorial. When Alison tried to expose Dr. Ric Decker (Susan’s boyfriend and Bob’s doctor), the deranged doc kidnapped her and tried to kill her as well. Chris came to the rescue. Jealous of Chris’s friendship with Katie, Alison slept with Aaron.
2005: Chris left to work in Pittsburgh. He later found out Alison was pregnant. Tests revealed Aaron was the bio dad. Chris discovered that the tests had been altered and he was the real father-to-be. Chris tried to talk to Ali on a fire escape. She fell and lost the baby.
2007-08: Chris and Alison reunited and set to wed, but during the ceremony, Chris revealed his feelings for Emily. He left town when Ali refused to forgive him and later hooked up with Emily. The duo returned to Oakdale, but things got rocky when Dusty was killed and Bob had a stroke. When Ali was kicked out of Memorial’s nursing program, she blamed Chris and accused him of sexual harassment. After rescuing Ali again from evil Ric Decker (who’d poisoned her), the duo had a one-night stand the night before her wedding to Aaron. Chris left town yet again.
2010: Chris will return in March to help Bob and Kim celebrate their wedding anniversary and shed some light on cranky Dr. Reid Oliver.
