All My Children

In Carlton’s Arms

The Hair: It’s a complicated style. “There are six ponytails in there and I took about 100 bobby pins out of it,” notes Amelia Heinle (Victoria). “It took about an hour and a half, but the second day it took about 45 minutes because we didn’t know we were on a one-scene standby. All three hairdressers came in on my head to get me out there. I don’t think I’d have a real wedding.”

The Dress: Y&R Costume Designer Jennifer Johns created the dress. “The bodice was made of Chantilly lace and the skirt was made of a heavy, stretch cotton broadcloth,” she notes. “It was a more understated gown considering what happened at her last wedding.”The Vows: Here’s how the happy (at least that day) couple said, “I do”.
Minister: We are gathered here today in the presence of God to celebrate the union of Brad and Victoria in the bonds of holy matrimony. As such, we bear witness to the love and commitment they have freely and willingly made to each other. Thus, if anyone present can show just cause why these two cannot be joined in marriage, let them speak now or forever hold their peace.
Minister (continuing): Brad and Victoria have chosen to write their own vows.
Brad: Victoria … I wish I could find the words to express the love I feel when I look at you. I never thought I’d find someone who completes me the way you do. You are truly an incredible woman. You welcomed me and my daughters into your heart and into your life. Today, we embark on a journey. A journey that will take us to many new places. I can’t promise you it will always be easy. But I can promise that I will love you and cherish you. And above all else, share what’s in my heart with you every day for the rest of our lives.
Victoria: Brad, this day that we thought would never come is finally here. Can you imagine when we started just a few months ago that we’d be spending the rest of our lives together? When I came back from Italy, I was a woman whose heart had been broken in so many ways. I was resigned to never finding anyone who could see past all of that and just love me for who I am. But you were there through some of my darkest hours. And it was then that I saw what a wonderful and caring man you are. No one has brought to my life what you have. You’re my friend and my partner. And being with you feels so natural. I love you with all of my heart. And I promise to be yours forever.Minister: Do you have the rings?… Do you, Brad, take Victoria to be your lawfully wedded wife? To honor her and to love her, in sickness and in health, forsaking all others, for as long as you both shall live?
Brad: I do.
Minister: And do you, Victoria, take Brad to be your lawfully wedded husband? To honor him and to love him, in sickness and in health, forsaking all others, for as long as you both shall live?
Victoria: I do.
Minister: In the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, and by the power invested in me by the state of Wisconsin, I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride.
