ALL MY CHILDREN’s Sarah Glendening (Marissa; ex-Lucy, AS THE WORLD TURNS) is diving into her second soap gig of 2010 this month, but being on TV isn’t really her first love.Glendening reveals that she only started acting “because I wanted to sing. I’ve been a singer; I was raised in Florida, so the only way I could get up and sing was to do local theater,” she explains. “This was years before I thought of myself as an actor.”

Now, the acting’s taken over, but the singer is definitely still lurking in the background. “I don’t sing nearly as much as I used to,” Glendening moans. “I have a theater degree, and a really strong theater background.” But the urge to warble remains…especially in musical comedy. “Oh, God, I mean, as far as leading ladies in musicals go,” Glendening says a favorite role would be Dot/Marie in Sunday in the Park With George because “It’s such a beautiful play.”

But her favorite musical is Into the Woods, for a very personal reason: “I was a teenager, my parents were divorcing and my life was a mess,” she recalls. “And then, I got to learn this music. It reached right out to me, and literally let me realize I wasn’t alone. I would love to do that show again; play the baker’s wife or the witch. Actually, I’d do any role; play the cow,” laughs Glendening, “I don’t care!”
