Alone in her car, a tearful Brooke flashed back to her confrontation with Nick and her prior conversation with Ridge about him as she sped down the highway.

At the Forrester guesthouse, Donna welcomed Ridge home with a surprise candlelight dinner. Donna told Ridge she wants him to know how much she appreciates him. An appreciative Ridge said he couldn’t believe she went to all this trouble. Donna said she wanted to thank him for their trip. Ridge said he enjoyed seeing the trip and the world through her eyes. The two admitted they were homesick and glad to be back. After finishing dinner Ridge went to take a shower. When Ridge came out of the shower Donna told him she loved him and turned on her seductive charms. When Ridge hesitated, Donna reminded him that Brooke is never coming back, and that she and Ridge are both starting over again in their lives. Donna conceded that people love different people in different ways, and didn’t expect to be loved the same way he loved Brooke. Ridge still kept quiet, and didn’t utter “I love you” back. Donna said she understood if he’s still not ready to say those words yet, and the two began to kiss. Just then there as a knock at the door. An annoyed Ridge surmised it was his meddling mama. He opened the door only to have a crying Brooke rush into his arms. Donna asked Brooke if she wanted her to call Nick. “No!” Brooke said. Brooke broke down and beat herself up at how she should have listened to Ridge about Nick. Brooke tearfully declared that she has forgiven Ridge for what she has done, and expressed worry that it might be too late for them. Ridge reassured her that it’s never too late, that this day would eventually come: she’s finally here in his arms, as it should be. The two began to kiss, as Donna looked on in astonishment.

At the main house, Stephanie was rankled that Donna picked up Ridge at the airport. She vented to Eric that Donna isn’t in Ridge’s league. Eric agreed, but refused to help Stephanie plot the demise of Brooke and Nick’s marriage. Stephanie threatened to go the guest house and throw out Donna, but Eric reigned her in and admonished her to stop spying on Ridge and Donna. But Steph continued to peer through the windows at the guest house. Stephanie got excited when she spied Brooke’s car at the guest house, and got her hopes up that Brooke finally saw the light.

Bridget continued her frantic efforts to reach Nick before it was too late. A washed-up Nick returned aboard the Marlin searching for Brooke, but she was nowhere to be found. Bridget finally found Nick on the Marlin. “Thank God!” she exclaimed, thinking she found him in time. Nick’s expression made her quickly realize she was too late. Nick told her Brooke threw him overboard. Nick surmised that Brooke reacted so negatively to the news that Bridget is pregnant because he told her in the wrong way. Bridget interrupted: “We’re not having a child — the baby is Dante’s.” Nick exploded at the idea that Bridget was wrong about the baby — his baby — and got choked up at the realization that he’s lost yet ANOTHER child. Bridget said she hasn’t told Dante yet, and naively suggested to Nick that there’s still hope for him and Brooke.
