Eric was frustrated over getting no nookie from Brooke, saying he was “losing control.” She apologized, but he felt that he just didn’t love him as a husband. He begged her to “find it in your heart” to come upstairs (to sleep with him) when she was ready. Instead, she went to the Marlin to talk to Nick. She filled him in on Eric’s “needs” and Nick told her to end it. “I’m never going to love him,” Brooke sighed. “You know that and so does Eric. It will always be you.” Nick said their feelings wouldn’t ever go away, even though he was committed to Bridget. Poor Brooke had no one to turn to. They both flashed back to that fated night of the storm when they discovered their love for each other and as she left, a snippet of their song played.
Eric, meanwhile, lit candles and waited upstairs to show her the love he had for her. Brooke came home to a the room aglow and champagne. Eric wouldn’t let her speak before his toast. “This is my evening for you and you are not going to say a word to me until I’m finished.”
At the beach house, Dante made his case with Stephanie, admitting he’d left his life in Italy to come to L.A. because he loved Bridget. He was ready to go on the offensive and swore he could raise another man’s baby. He rehashed Bridget’s train of insecure relationships thanks to her mother and Stephanie agreed that had just ruined her relationship with Nick. Then he showed her Bridget and Nick’s divorce papers and insisted she help convince Bridget to sign them. That’s when Bridget conveniently showed up. She was annoyed at Stephanie’s recent play at Forrester and distrustful of her motivations for visiting, but then Stephanie handed her the papers. She and Dante harangued Bridget with the anti-Brooke/Nick party line and pushed her to sign, while Dante reminded her that she was number one with him. She remained defensive and undecided. Nick arrived with the news that Brooke and Eric’s marriage was caput, noting that he was where his heart was, with Bridget. He pointed out the anger in Stephanie’s voice and asked if she could trust it. Bridget looked into his eyes as Dante and Stephanie continued their hard sell. Who will win???
