ATWT’s Paul and Meg Marry
The perpetually crisis-ridden duo of AS THE WORLD TURNS — Paul and Meg — give a wedding another try this week. Marie Wilson (Meg) dishes the dirt and the dress.
Soap Opera Weekly: Let’s talk wedding. Does it feel great to have Paul and Meg finally trying to get married again?
Marie Wilson: Oh, my gosh, yeah. After everything they’ve been through, and all the hesitation and the setbacks, it’s what Meg has been looking forward to for a very long time. She can finally admit that she’s in love with Paul, and that he’s the only guy that she wants to spend her life with.
Weekly: Describe the shindig.
Wilson: They have the ceremony at Fairwinds. Unfortunately, Mama’s out of town, and Meg really wanted her to be there, so it’s just Paul, Meg and Barbara — and there’s a little surprise from Mike, who’s hiding in the bushes (laughs). Mike throws a little, concerned wrench into the situation. But at this point, nothing’s going to stop Meg. She’s very determined to marry Paul, so she justifies it to herself.
Weekly: Meg’s been down the aisle several times. What’s different about her dress this time around?
Wilson: It’s beautiful. It’s something you would wear to a fancy evening out. It’s very ethereal and flowing, and stunning. I don’t want to say it was tie-dyed, but it blended from one color into another and looked like a painting. I want to borrow it!
Weekly: It’s like Meg’s fifth or sixth dress. You would hope this one’s reusable.
Wilson: I don’t know. Terri (Colombino), who plays Katie, and I have been comparing notes. I think she’s up there.
Weekly: She has you beat, because she’s on her fifth husband, while Meg just keeps trying to marry the same guy repeatedly.
Wilson: Exactly. All the girls should get together and compare wedding dresses (laughs).
Weekly: So we’ve hinted that Mike interrupts. Can we hint if Paul and Meg get to have a honeymoon?
Wilson: No, they don’t get a honeymoon. It sucks! I was kind of hoping we’d shoot on location in Fiji or somewhere.
Weekly: You mean a Lakeview hotel room that looks like Fiji.
Wilson: I’m fine with that.
Weekly: Put a couple of palm fronds in there…
Wilson: Maybe I could bring my own camera and shoot it in L.A.!
