Henry smashed all three bottles of BJ’s Chateau Latour and was about to set on the Rothschilds when BJ appeared. BJ didn’t want to talk about Mike (“It’s a dead subject”), and threatened Maddie, enraging Henry. BJ promised that Mike was still alive, but he wants Henry and Maddie out of his life, so he’s got a plan to distract her; if it doesn’t work, too bad…. Maddie, meanwhile, was calling motels, looking for big brother. Casey brought her a box addressed to her from “Henry” that was postmarked “Palo Alto.” Inside was a lime-green iPod with a smiley sticker. Maddie instantly hated it, and suspected Henry didn’t send it. At that moment BJ walked in and asked about Henry. Maddie said the cute iPod must mean he’s in California. In the wine cellar, Olga the Valkyrie returned and warned Henry to “stop breaking wine.” He asked why she was working for a misogynist who is threatening to hurt a young girl. He begged the skeptical Olga to free him or tell BJ Maddie isn’t a threat. BJ interrupted and assured Henry Maddie was fine… “for now.” At Java, Casey offered to watch Maddie’s back (more likely, her backside) while she investigates. Why did Henry say “whine” in his phone message? Casey suggested it was a code. “That’s it!” Maddie shouted.
Gwen was skeptical of Iris’ stomach pain, but Will summoned EMTs who took her to the hospital. There, Dr. Bob said it was a close call and they pumped Iris’ stomach. Maybe it was food poisoning. Cass arrived because Iris wanted him to draw up a will. She sent Will to fetch her insurance policy. Will told Gwen he suspected this was all a sympathy gambit. Dr. Bob returned and asked Gwen to join him for a bite at Java.
Paul tried to smooth over Emily’s rage at finding him rummaging through Rosanna’s stuff. She revealed she would have agreed to marry him, but she can’t compete with a memory, so forget it. Paul assured her he’s concentrating on her, but Em was sure he still loves Ro. Paul insisted he was merely saying goodbye to Ro so he could move on to Em: “I don’t want to live in the past; I want you.” Emily claimed Paul puts everybody else before her. “When do I get to be first?” she wined…er, whined. The doorbell rang. It was Barbara, who feared Will’s hatred of Iris will overwhelm him, so she wanted to put him back in therapy before he hurt someone. Barb asked Paul to help her find Jennifer and then help Will, but Paul balked and threw her out. Barb warned that Em was a selfish woman who would destroy him. (Takes one to know one.) Paul apologized to Em. “You keep me sane,” Paul cried (yes, HE CRIED). “You keep me from falling over the edge. I can’t live my life without you.” Perhaps disgusted by his wimpiness, Emily laughed in his face. “You were my first love,” he moaned and asked for another chance. “I love you. So, one more time, will you marry me?” he pleaded. “Yes,” she weepily answered, and they smooched.
At Java, Dr. Bob said he got the preliminary test results: Iris was poisoned — but it was no accident. Someone deliberately poisoned her! Back in her room, Iris told Cass she thinks someone is trying to get rid of her.
