In case you missed the last five minutes, today’s episode (helpfully?) provided complete replays of most of the major action. Start with Damian, going off on Holden’s parenting skills and getting punched in the face for it. Luke helped him to his feet, but Holden voiced his concern that Damian was up to something and asked Luke to come home with him. So the poor teen, forced to make the uncomfortable choice between his two dads, decided to stick with Holden. At home, Holden awesomely apologized for setting a rotten example, but Luke pointed out that Damian has a way of “asking for it.” He then talked about the “007 life” that he always imagined he might have had if he’d grown up with Damian, but noted that he’d still be gay. Holden was glad to hear that, and relieved that his son can see through Damian’s slick demeanor. Lily’s not so good at it, though, especially when Damian tattled to her, making it sound like he was on the cusp of a major breakthrough with Luke when Holden ruined everything. He eventually convinced her to let him spend more time helping Luke sort out his “problems.”
Then there was poor sweet cheatin’ Will, who really has to learn to hold his liquor with less whining, arguing with Gwen about their marriage. He did everything to make her happy; she’d have been happier if he hadn’t pretended to be happy himself. No one’s happy now, and when Will nearly got into a scuffle with the principal (who showed up looking for Gwen, the party singer he hired and ended up demanding that Will vacate the premises), the young Munsons were forced to go their separate ways for the evening. Gwen cried on Casey’s shoulder, and though Casey had Will’s back, a bummed Will spied them through the window and took off to hang out on the bridge with Jade. And frankly, it’s a good thing there weren’t any other people around when Jade convinced him to embrace his inner bad boy and embarrassingly shout out that he doesn’t give a damn what anyone thinks about him. Back at CRASH, Casey and Maddie finally convinced Gwen to take the stage, where she sang a heartbreaking rendition of Remy Zero’s “Perfect Memory” — which continued playing as her husband started heavily making out with that no-good Jade.
Emily was still freaking out about seeing Meg at work in her little corner of the psych ward, so Paul backtracked and showed the cracks in his Svengali by begging her in panicky tones not to just cut off communication with him. Still, Emily threw them both out. In the hallway, Meg tried to convince Paul that Em was manipulating them, and someone needs to keep an eye on her. He still thinks Emily is serious about the abortion, and told Meg he would do anything to fool Em into doing what he wants to do. “If I have to, I’ll just lie,” he said, but Meg (hopefully taking note of yet another hint about his manipulation skills) responded that she didn’t want to lie about their relationship. As it turned out, neither does Paul, who was worn down so much by Emily’s next accusations that he and Meg are trying to steal her baby that he wearily dropped his entire plan. “You’re right. This is all lies. I love Meg. I want to spend the rest of my life with her,” he admitted, quite awesomely and Svengali-free. He then angrily shoved the surgical consent form in her face and dared her to sign it.
At the Yacht Club (possibly?), Jennifer, Dusty, Barbara, Kim and Bob were celebrating baby Johnny getting a new daddy when Lily stopped by their table, because she was meeting her overdressed-in-a-hot-red-gown niece Lucy. Awkward! After a quick greeting with Bob and Kim, Lucy and Lily went off to their own table, leaving Barbara to briefly snark before turning back to Jennifer, who read an embarrassed Dusty’s super-sweet letter to the judge about why he should be allowed to adopt Johnny. They were still in the middle of their “Awww”s and gushing when — perfect timing! — a messenger delivered the official paperwork and everyone celebrated some more. Nearby, Lucy tried not to be too upset about it, then called the hospital to volunteer for an extra shift. Meanwhile, Kim was trying to get a photo of the happy new family when Jen finally noticed that her baby is very clearly ill. Bob suggested that they rush him to the hospital.
