Waking up at the Wagon Wheel, Meg confirmed she knew she was with Craig (apparently he has to keep checking). He went on to criticize her taste in
crash pads and ask her to move into Fairwinds. She saw right through his grand gesture. “Of course there are strings attached!” she cried. “Tell me
which strings you plan to attach to me.” Craig scoffed, claiming sincerity.
(Riiiiight.) “I am merely offering you a safe haven.” Well, she liked her havens flea-bitten with vibrating beds, thank you! But she agreed to think about his offer. Of course, five minutes later, the Wagon Wheel manager told her some tall, dark dude had paid her bill. When Craig showed up later, the manager told him of Meg’s intention to stay “indefinitely.” Craig then stopped by Al’s and spied newly-employed Meg in a fetching blue uniform. Far
from pulling a “Kiss-my-grits,” she assured him, “I’m taking care of myself!”
At Al’s, Jack and the boys had helpings of pancakes and Parker’s surliness. He turned down Jack’s invite to a hockey game. At OAKDALE NOW, Katie prepped a meatloaf for a “Cooking With Katie” segment. Since Brad was AWOL, Katie
started her segment solo. Brad then appeared with Paul’s barking nemesis from the woods! Elsewhere, Jack got a call so he trusted the boys to get to school on their own. Katie yelled about the “filthy beast,” and Brad introduced said beast to Katie and the audience as “Rusty.” Nearby, Jack arrived to tell Kim that Rusty had Cujo tendencies. They agreed to stand back as long as the dog stayed calm. Of course, as soon as Rusty saw Katie’s finished meatloaf, he pounced! Yum! A tearful J.J. argued with Parker about
their abandonment issues and left Al’s alone. Katie went ballistic as soon as the cameras were off and Jack lectured Brad. Kim thought the segment had been a hoot, but she did dress down Brad
for the tardiness and his attitude. Contrite, Brad apologized to Katie and
asked if it was tough for her since she didn’t have a husband to cook for
anymore. (Ouch!) “Mike is coming back!” Katie declared. After Brad fled, she
started crying…and that’s how Jack found her. “It’s Mike, he’s not coming
back,” she whispered, leaning on him.
Margo made plans to fly out to L.A. to find Adam, which wigged out Maddie.
Fortunately (or not so much) Casey told Margo he had new info. At the Junior
Munson Manse, Will was being supportive when Gwen gasped: Adam had e-mailed
her! Will, Gwen, Margo, and Casey all read the missive aloud in scene shifts. It was the confessional letter Maddie was writing yesterday at Al’s!
“He’s taking the coward’s way out,” dismissed Will. Of course, Gwen called Maddie ASAP and Maddie copped to her stunt. The junior Munsons then trooped over to see Margo. Maddie assured Gwen in person that things were “totally
covered.” Jade and Luke came by. When they heard about Adam’s e-mail, Jade cried foul: “He should apologize to me, too.” Maddie leapt to insult her nemesis (and cover). Cue a round of their typical snark and Luke refereeing. When Jade and Luke slammed out, Jade turned on her ally and sniped about his
lack of relationship knowledge. Aw! Meanwhile, Maddie and Gwen hashed out
their situation after sending the guys to the store. Jade quickly apologized to Luke and told him, “Whatever guy gets you is going to be very lucky!” She then promised that Maddie and Gwen would pay for always turning things
against her. Back at Chez Hughes, Casey tried to reach out to Will, who was still prickly. Of course, the whole gang’s problems grew worse when Margo declared, “A body was just found in the woods!”
