All My Children

AMC’s Often (Crazy) Annie

Comments

Adam running off with Brooke in April leaves his ex-wife, Annie (Melissa Claire Egan), alone in ALL MY CHILDREN’s Pine Valley. Annie doesn’t do alone well. She’s already set her sights on JR (they had sex in D.C.), and before that, she was macking on his cousin, Scott. Egan talked to me about the jumble that is Annie Lavery Chandler’s life.Soap Opera Weekly: Can we look forward to a JR/Annie/Scott love triangle?

Melissa Claire Egan: You never know. I don’t. All I know is, there’s a lot of manipulating going on and a lot of blackmail. So no matter what, it’s gonna be really juicy and fun.

Weekly: Is there anyone in the cast that you haven’t really had any major scenes with that you would like to? I’m thinking of an Annie and David pairing.

Egan: I would love that. A lot of people [ask for] that. That would be so good, because Annie and David can be so bad, [and it] would be super-fun to have scenes with Vincent [Irizarry, David]. He’s so good at being bad.

Weekly: And so are you. Now that you have been in Los Angeles for a while, how do you feel about the move?

Egan: It’s okay. I used to live here. I was in Los Angeles for three years [after] I graduated college. I actually auditioned for All My Children on tape out here. So it’s like a second home to me. I have a ton of best friends here. I know the area. It’s been a really easy transition for me. I miss New York, of course, but it’s been really nice being back. I’ve been enjoying it.

Weekly: Were there any adjustments to filming in high def?

Egan: Not really. It seemed like it was [going to be] scary, but it’s not as scary as it seemed.

Weekly: Which storyline so far has been the most fun for you to do?

Egan: Definitely when Annie lost her mind, when she went to crazy town last year. But you know what? I’ve got to say, this recent storyline has been amazing. All the stuff [with] Annie in the Chandler mansion being the master manipulator has been so much fun, just because you never know what she’s gonna do next. So that’s been really exciting. And the stuff coming up with JR’s character is really fun — it’s like one of those things where you read the last page of the script and you’re like, “Um, no, really?”

Weekly: Was there any storyline you didn’t care for so much?

Egan: No, not really. Our show is year-round, so you get all different kinds of storylines — which is like an actor’s dream. All of it has been good. It’s been exciting; there hasn’t been one that I didn’t like.
