Zach examined Alexander’s rock-filled coffin and discovered a note: “My son
was dead and is alive again,
was lost and is found.” The cemetery administrator denied responsibility, but noted that while he was on vacation seven months ago, someone authorized
disinterment of the coffin — someone masquerading as Zach. It was exhumed
on July 23, the anniversary of Zach’s “death.” Zach realized this is another “lesson” proving that his father can take away whatever Zach loves. Zach suggested his brother Michael is the key. When Michael was exposed as a rapist, Alexander hatched a plan to punish Michael by giving Cambias Industries to
Ryan and playing dead so Ryan could rehabilitate the empire. Later, when Ryan learned that “Zach Slater” is really Alexander Cambias Jr., Alexander Sr. also found out. Since his son lied about dying, Zach needed to be
punished. Zach said his mother was just a possession to Alexander, but a son faking death took away what Alexander valued most. Now he’s taking away Zach’s new life. Kendall insisted, “There’s no way he knows where we are.” Then the phone rang. Zach picked it up. “Hello Alex!” his father said
as Zach looked stricken. “Can I call you Alexander? It is the name I gave you.” Alexander set a meeting at a warehouse at 2 Sunset Avenue. Zach retrieved
a gun from under the mattress. Kendall wanted to come, but Zach forbid her: “It’s between him and me — alone.”
Bianca showed Ryan the button, and he identified the Cambias crest. Is there another Cambias out there, she wondered? Ryan insisted there are no other living relatives besides Zach and Miranda. She told him to find out what the
button means.
JR and Erica traded barbs after he told her Josh was at the casino, but when he called her a tramp, Erica slapped him! She said Babe loved Josh more than him. Later, Zoe was awakened by JR, who warned her to shut up about JR
blackmailing Babe, because her loose lips could make others curious enough to uncover the truth about Krystal’s baby. Zoe vowed to shout it from every concert stage in the country. Calling her “Zarf,” JR said Babe would want him to shut up. Zoe didn’t buy JR’s sudden love for Babe. Later, at the casino, a bodyguard kept Erica out of Kendall’s suite. When Ryan arrived, he
flashed back to the killer’s threatening note and broke down the door. The room was empty. Erica flipped, and Ryan flashed back to Bianca’s request and Zach asking to know what happened when Alexander died. Just to get Erica out of the room, Ryan told her that Kendall was in the tub. Then he told her that Zach got Kendall out of town without the killer knowing. They resolved to keep the secret.
Tad and Aidan were working the phones, tracing the killer’s paper trail, when Tad flipped out and blasted Aidan for wasting time. Jamie broke up the fight. Tad was upset because he promised Dixie to nail the killer but he’s
not getting it done. JR slipped into the room as a weepy Tad lamented
letting Dixie down. JR said Tad never let her down, and joined the search team. Ryan arrived and showed them the button before pronouncing:
“Gentlemen, we know who the killer is.”
In Las Vegas, a tearful Kendall sent Zach to his rendezvous. Arriving at the
warehouse, Zach kicked in the door with his gun drawn and was hit by a blinding
light that revealed…his mother!
