All About Ewa
Okay, so maybe it’s not all about AS THE WORLD TURNS’ Ewa da Cruz (Vienna), but when Weekly sat down with the charming actress for an upcoming feature, we got the goods on whether or not she’s as high-maintenance as her adorably avaricious alter ego.
Soap Opera Weekly: So, how are you different from Vienna?
Ewa da Cruz: Well, Vienna’s sweet (laughs). No, she really is! I’m very different. You see, I don’t have tons and tons of money and I don’t fly around from here to there. And I’m Norwegian; I’m not Swedish.
Weekly: You’re not as continental and frou-frou as she is?
da Cruz: No, it’s very different. I’m not jet-setting around the world living the high life she’s been living thus far.
Weekly: What about Vienna’s touch with the guys? Are you similar there?
da Cruz: No, I’m not flying around from him to her to him to her. But, actually, I am a very flirtatious person — just not in a bad way. It’s more like I’m a very touchy-feely type of person. I will give you a hug and I can stand next to you, and I will touch your arm. And that’s just me. Vienna can be like that if she likes you (laughs). I don’t think Vienna would play basketball like I’ve done for years and years — or, maybe she would, with her diamonds and her heels.
Weekly: Speaking of those, is it fun to wear all of her fancy clothes?
da Cruz: Yes. It’s great because I would never really wear any of that. There’s this one dress — Vienna, she’s getting a little tired of it — that I absolutely love. And I would just love to say, “I’m just going to borrow this,” and then just take it. (laughs) It’s the Dolce & Gabbana leopard-print one.
Weekly: She always looks fantastic.
da Cruz: Oh, my God, she has fabulous clothes. She looks good all the time with the makeup and hair already done up. Me, as a person, I’m not like that. If you see me walking down the street, I’m walking with my Converse, my jeans and just a leather jacket and a hat. Nobody will see the slightest resemblance between me and Vienna.
