Alicia Minshew on Kendall’s Return
The wait is over! On August 9, Alicia Minshew returned to the AMC airwaves as Kendall. The actress chatted with Digest about her comeback.
Soap Opera Digest: After nine months of stay-at-home mommy duty, was it fun to get glammed up again?
Alicia Minshew: You know, when I first show up, Kendall’s with Ryan at the hospital; she doesn’t show up all dolled up in a gorgeous dress or anything because she thinks that he’s dying [laughs]! It’s not like what she would wear to Fusion or a party or something. But I kind of liked just being in a simple outfit, pants and a pretty shirt. But eventually I get to wear some gorgeous dresses and I have to say, it had been a long time since I’d gotten glammed up with the heels and the dresses and the makeup and it’s been fun for me to play dress-up again! That has been really fun for me, for sure. I was like, “Kendall clothes, woo-hoo!”
Digest: How is your baby girl, Willow, adjusting to your move across the country?
Minshew: Beautifully. Just today, actually, we had someone come in to baby-proof the apartment, tweak all the outlets, fix the cabinets so the baby can’t get into them. They walk around and find all the hazards, things we may not think of. To have someone come baby-proof your house is so funny; I didn’t even know that existed! But it’s great for my peace of mind now that my child is crawling like a mad woman! She does not stop moving, much like her mother. Every time I turn around, she’s across the room. I’m like, “Dude, how did you get there so fast?” She’s little, but she crawls really fast. It’s pretty funny to watch. I’m in a constant state of amusement.
Digest: What can you tell us about how Kendall’s return is received? Ryan is happy to see her, but what about Greenlee?
Minshew: With Greenlee, they start to make amends. Slowly, they start to forgive each other and she starts working with Ryan to help get Greenlee away from David. She’s kind of determined to help Greenlee and Ryan because she just cares about them so much. We have some scenes where we’re kind to each other and they are showing that they want to make things work again. And, obviously, they’ll be back working together at Fusion. I’m having so much fun with Cameron [Mathison, Ryan] and Rebecca [Budig, Greenlee], like I knew I would. It feels good!
