Peter Hansen, who began playing the role of Lee Baldwin on GENERAL HOSPITAL in 1965 and made his final appearance on the show in 2004, passed away on April 9 at the age of 95. The California-born actor, who also appeared as Lee on the GH spinoff PORT CHARLES, received the 1979 Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor. He is survived by two children, and multiple grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Kin Shriner, who played Hansen’s GH son, Scott, starting in 1977, told Soap Opera Digest in 2015, “I remember [then-GH Executive Producer Gloria Monty] taking me aside and saying, ‘You know who you really work the best with?’ And I said, ‘Genie [Francis, Laura]?’ And she said, ‘No, Peter Hansen.’ She felt that maybe because I lost both of my parents at a young age that I connected to the father/son stuff and she gave us a lot to do, so Peter got a lot of work and I got a lot of work with him. I called him on his 93rd birthday on December 5th and he answered the phone like it was 35 years ago. Gloria saw the gold with me and him and I loved playing all that stuff with him.”
